Pretty gross One of the worst places I've ever stayed in -- there's a reason it's cheaper than other places. This is not cute or friendly like an actual B&B, it's just a cheap place to stay that calls itself one. The room was filled with dust and smelled musty. The bedsheets were old and well-used, with the pillows clearly yellowed from previous guests. The towels were dirty. The "innkeeper" is openly hostile. The "breakfast" is a joke. Only plus is the location and the fact that it was relatively quiet. Avoid if you can afford to at all.

Delightful stay Delightful stay at a historic bed and breakfast/boarding house. Comfortable common area including kitchen. Continental breakfast included. Safe and clean, close to public transportation. My room included a half bath. A slight hiccup at check in was resolved quickly.

an affordable alternative near DePaul we didn't get room 13, we had room 3A. We were put off by the description that the bathroom was across the hall. There's no doubt that this is a bit of a quirky old place. But it was also comfortable and was very convenient for DePaul University. It was also more affordable than other hotels we saw in the city. The room was large, the bed was comfortable. Fred, is a kind helpful guy. The floors creak, there is no elevator. Sirens from the traffic outside seem to come from inside the room. Breakfast, is not a real positive, unless you like pre-packaged items with high sugar and high carbs (yogurt and bananas are also provided).

Room was filthy, odor was so bad I had to change rooms I was in room 2A, paying $165/night. The room was filthy, with a terrible smell of something rotten. There was never anyone available at the front desk in the evenings, when I came back from work, so on day 2 I actually bought an air freshener, after leaving the window open all day, but the smell was still terrible. I called them on day 3 and the manager checked the room and immediately apologized, explaining that the guests before me had had a pet dog in the room that wore diapers, and must have soiled the rug or furniture. Great. I was then moved to a smaller, cheaper room, which was shabby and dirty too (but at least didn't smell bad). They still charged me the full original rate. All in all a shockingly bad place - avoid at all costs. The breakfast is also untouchable - a few nutrigrain bars and some gone-off orange juice, coffee in a thermos and a bottle of creamer. After sampling the juice on the first morning, I didn't touch it again.
