Great location! Terrific location and great front desk staff and housekeeping staff. Stayed for 5 night while sight-seeing. 1 block for the L train, easy walk to area restaurants and shops. Stayed in a high room facing the river which was great! Room was somewhat basic (no desk, no table) but very clean. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the options to eat at the hotel were extremely limited and run by folks who seemed to be bothered by working with the public.

Wonderful location with Great Staff Great stay - a wonderful location. Staff was very courteous, especially front desk clerks. Room was great - very clean with comfy linens and pillows. With COVID, only a take out breakfast was offered, but it was good and given with a warm smile.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT Wow, after staying at this hotel in downtown Chicago for many years, and wonderful experiences every time, this last stay there will be our last. For so many reasons... 1- no valet parking (they nonchalantly advised us to just park around the corner in a public parking lot - which cost us $165) - and we had a lot of luggage. 2- the concierge lounge was not open - something we have come accustomed at the "better" Marriott hotels 3- There is no longer any room service offered. So we asked the restaurant downstairs to deliver up to our room, and it was served in plastic take-out cartons and with plastic flatware. If you want the restaurant to deliver it to your room (from their very limited 1 page menu), there is a $5 delivery charge - honestly! 4- There was no desk in the room - and both my husband and I had to work while we were there for 3 days. We ended up using the little side stand next to the one chair in the room. 5 -And yes,,there was only 1 chair in the room to sit on. We asked for another chair and they produced a dining room chair 6 - Because there was no concierge lounge to go to in the morning to get a little breakfast (actually there is a coffee machine in the room, but no cream available for it), so I ended up waiting in line at their little lobby coffee shop - for cream for our coffee (complained to front desk about this and they send up a guy with some packets of cream - thankfully). 7 - The final straw was our departure this morning - they do not offer valet service during the week - really? We had luggage for a long trip - a full car of it - with no help from the hotel to help us get it out of our room down to the lobby and into our car. 8 - And....no electric car charging station nearby - ugh! Shame on Marriott - this hotel is a disgrace and if this reflects what we can expect from other premiere Marriott hotels - we'll just stop visiting their hotels. The only reason I didn't give the rating a #1 was because the room was very clean and the bed and linens were extremely comfortable, and the room was quiet, as we had requested. Please go back to being a classy hotel, Renaissance. We were so disappointed.

Was going to say three stars…but… I originally was going to rate this hotel three stars not because of the rooms which are quite nice - but because of lack of working elevators and need for small repairs. For example there is a bank of six elevators and I’m fairly certain only three are working…who knows why However I would now say five stars because of the personal touch. We had a front door security gentleman (Alex?) come up and mention that he noticed her purse on the back of her chair and that she should really hang it on the hook in front of her at the bar. It’s little touches like that which will take an average experience and elevate it. So - for the little things - I will say five stars. Thank you Alex!
