Bed bugs and a centipede in room 402! Bed bugs and a centipede in room 402! My husband and I have traveled a lot, and we have never ever experienced bed bugs. We decided to look at reviews of this hotel after finding a huge house centipede crawling on the wall near my head while I sat on the couch in the room.! One recent review, 2 weeks prior, revealed that room 402 (our room) had bed bugs! We scoured the mattress under the sheets looking for evidence. When we found none, we figured the problem had been taken care of properly. The room seemed well kept and throughly clean. Early the next morning my husband awoke abruptly feeling something crawling in his back. Indeed it was a bed bug! We looked up pictures to be sure. We quickly got out of bed and found more dead bed bugs on the white sheets that had been crushed underneath him. He also discovered that he had bites on his back and back of legs consistent with photos of bed bug bites. At 6:00 am, we took pictures of the bed bugs on the sheets, quickly gathered our belongings and went downstairs to show the pictures of the bugs and demand a refund. We are disgusted that we had to experience bugs in the first place, and even more disgusted that the proper cleaning procedures had not been done to take care of the previous bed bug problem just a few weeks prior!! There are very cleaning procedures for bed bugs. We also noticed that the previous bed bug review had been taken down, but we have a screenshot of a portion of the review to prove it existed. We didn’t know businesses could take reviews down. In the end, City Suites didn’t have us pay for our stay, but we want the public to be fully aware of the ineptitude of this business.

Meh…look elsewhere Meh. Just okay. Overpriced. The photos on theirs website are very polished. The hotel is a bit drab. I’m not familiar with the layout of the city of Chicago and should have done more research to find a more centrally located hotel with more amenities. We couldn’t lock our deadbolt. Parking is available but at an extra cost.

BED BUGS FOUND IN DIRTY HOTEL Bed bugs found in room 402. STAY AWAY. When I realized there were bed bugs. I called the hotel immediately and was gaslit when they didn’t find anything. See pics attached. Hotel doesn’t want to refund stay. This is a dirty hotel, don’t spend $

Great location. Location: Top marks! The City Suites Hotel is right by the Belmont CTA station, making it a breeze to get around Chicago using public transportation. Boystown is at your doorstep, which is great if you want to be in the heart of the neighborhood. Room: Here's where City Suites shines. My room was surprisingly spacious, a welcome change from some Chicago hotels. It felt more like an apartment, which could be a big plus for longer stays. Service: Unfortunately, the check-in experience fell flat. The staff member I encountered wasn't rude per se, but they definitely lacked warmth or friendliness. Overall: This hotel is a good option if you prioritize a spacious room and easy access to public transport and Boystown. However, if exceptional service is important to you, you might want to consider elsewhere.

Needed a place at a reasonable price and close to the L, and this worked great! We were visiting a few Chicago places, but one key one was on the L. Unfortunately, there were no hotels near that destination, so we looked near other L stops and found City Suites. The front desk staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. The on-line experience was mixed: I couldn't get clear information about parking from the web site, and e-mails gave a contact e-mail address that was never answered. Calling for parking gave me the address to use for local public parking, down the block and around the corner. I was surprised to discover that the room had a minibar: Snacks and drinks, with a price list. I don't think I'd seen that in a US hotel in over a decade or two. It was convenient, though. Another convenience was a QR code for a room delivery service that would provide pizzas, sandwiches, pasta, and so forth. While there are nice restaurants in the neighborhood, the "room service" option ran later. You pay for the privilege, of course, but they delivered ahead-of-schedule the two times I used it. For breakfast, we did the Chicago Bagel Authority one day. They specialize in steamed sandwiches, even if you just get a bagel and cream cheese. The result is hot and fresh-tasting. (Don't ask for a toaster!) Don't expect to have a great view. Our windows looked out on the brick wall of the building next door, with only the width of the ground-level passage in between. You'll get daylight, but you aren't going to see much. (I was in Tokyo earlier this year, and paid more for this same experience there!) The bathroom does not have a fan. It's an old Chicago code that allows bathrooms with an outside window to avoid vent fans. Our window had louvred windows that could be opened, though. I would definitely stay again if I needed to be in that area, or needed that nearby L access.
