Roller Rink - Waste of Time. The Roller Rink was a complete waste of time. Website states you can purchase tickets on-site and avoid the mandatory 6% fee for booking online. However, when I went to purchase tickets, was told they had to be purchased online, for the additional 6% fee. They don't give you a choice, just nickel and dime as much as they can. The roller skates were worn out, very uncomfortable. The 'rink' was comprised of multiple slats pieced together poorly, on uneven ground. Was wavy, not at all smooth or level. My kids did not stand a chance on such a surface. The booking was for 90 minutes, but we left after about 20 minutes. That's what $91 will get you at HDC.

DO NOT GO IF YOU WANT A BEACH VACATION Probably the most expensive hotel I have ever stayed in and it simply failed to deliver. Rooms were nice and had been modernized relatively recently BUT .... The beach was closed and they never mentioned this to us prior to OR during check in. Normally hotels tell guests if they are experienceing issues like remodelling etc - but NO - we would have stayed somewhere else if we had known. We had booked months earlier for family vacation driving down from San Francisco to San Diego. Blowing $$$$ on the Del Coronado for 4 nights was supposed to be the perfect end to our vacation. Beach was closed, could not go in the sea as polution had come down from Mexcio (seems like it is a regular occurrence) Family had to get Uber up to La Jolla for teh beach each day. It was right before July 4 weekend and it was obvious they were not going to tell anyone about the beach closure - but I spoke with a Receptionist when we found out beach was closed and she admited it was pretty shady not to tell me before I arrived or whilst checking in. There is also a LOT of renovation work going on too - which they DO mention on website. I have since raised this issue with hotel management and they say there is nothing more they can do. STAY AWAY!

Disaster. Stay away. Well travelled. First review which I felt compelled to do. We have spent three weeks in California travelling from san Fran ending in San Diego. This hotel is by far the worst we have stayed in. We are at the shore house which is really nice but we paid for an ocean view 2 bedroom and we are directly in front of the pool. If you lean over the balcony and look through a pool cabana you can almost see the ocean. It was 1100 usd for two nights extra. Extremely misleading. Everything here is an up charge. We had bicycles, beach chairs and umbrellas provided at every hotel but at del Coronado it’s 25 per hour for one bike. What’s worse. A single vodka soda is US$19 plus . I totally get it will be more for a drink at a place like this but this is so egregious it’s crazy. What’s worse on top of the over priced and up charged everything at this place, is that the ocean is contaminated. You actually cannot go in the ocean on your beachfront resort. This is obviously not the hotels fault but no warning prior to check in or at check in is just wrong and the fact that they nickel and dime you to death on a beachfront property with contaminated water is mind blowing. Stay away from this place.

I normally don’t reviews hotels but this one I have to for how bad it is One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in, I can’t believe I paid 800+ for this. If you asked me to pay $200 per night, I would’ve considered it…..without the $75 parking fee. When you enter the hotel lobby, you’ll be greeted by an arrogant front desk, who thinks he is doing you a huge favor by upgrading your room from your Hilton Diamond perks. They don’t really respect you much, and don’t even mention services. The room was extremely disappointing also. Shower floor was dirty. Bed sheet has new bodily-fluid stain. There were even someone else’s clipped finger nails down on the table. The bottled water was already opened. They did change the room for us, yet it is a worse room (no upgrade) with two queens but not one king. The new room is a bit better, yet one of the bed sheet still has blood stains on the end. We just stayed at the one clean queen bed instead of staying in both beds. At the end, my room was charged an extra $106 spending from their restaurant Sun Deck, yet we had never dined in Sun Deck at all! They did remove the charge on us, but how in the world would that had happened? If I didn’t checked the receipt in depth, it would be really hard to argue. Please note that the hotel manager is likely to commend under this post that they understand the issues not up to their “standards” and they will send an email address for complaining. NO THEY DON’T CARE AND WONT CHANGE. They are simply milking the customers’ money especially from those conferences just because they are historical. The entire hotel is under construction and what you are getting is more of a “motel by the sea” type with a self parking fee of $55 and valet parking of $75. Completely not worthy. People mentioned that the sea is dirty filled with sewage, which made us to not even get close to the water. Sure it’s not the problem with the hotel, but it’s the view we are using our real money paying for, right? Overalls, not even worthy if you are paying $200. Some historical hotels always use their services to beat their older infrastructure. Unfortunately, Hotel Del Coronado is not one of them, but only the opposite. IT WILL RUINE YOUR VACATION OR BUSINESS TRIP.
