Sad but True The hotel continues to go downhill. We have been here for five straight years and the hotel continues to decline. We have been here for 10 days and the pool water gets greener and greener. The only good thing about this hotel is the staff. They take care of you and get to know you very well. The check-in process is still the same (long). They need to upgrade so many things. The pool water is so green you can't see the bottom. They used to shock it and it was a beautiful pool but you can tell maintenance is not a priority here. It's sad to say this will probably be our last busy year because of the unkeptness of the rooms and amenities. This hotel used to be full when we started coming and I would say it's probably 25 percent full this week.

Snorkeling, sunsets and service Very nice stay. Buffet food is well below average but order to menu is very good. One a la carte restaurant, reservations at 8am, daily table d’hôte and various options. Courteous and helpful staff. Tasty and well presented food. We mostly enjoyed snorkel tour with Ceasar, he’s patient always with a smile. One hour free snorkeling equipment is a daily must. We encountered a dozen varieties of colourful families fish the most precious being the spotted trunkfish. We visited after hurricane Beryl so the beach was overwhelmed with sea grass but the staff worked daily to clean as best as possible. Hotel was not busy and yet beach chairs scarce. . Pools were cleaned on rotation so if you followed the schedule you always had a clean swim, otherwise… Scuba lessons are free and daily. We much enjoyed and we’re able to go on a 40 ft dive with our new skills. Rooms were large, the view superbe, very good hot water and pressure - cleaning staff A1. Also excellent WI-FI. Mini putt course is challenging. Pool table in good condition. Can only rent putters and cues until 7pm. The only entertainment on some evenings are movies projected on an outdoor wall by the indoor pool, a mosquito haven. Otherwise you need to entertain yourself, most guests did just that and just drank till late in the pool. No midnight snacks or drinks. Depending on the type of vacay you searching for, El Cozumeleno could be the perfect option.

A Missed Opportunity. Great Location - Terrible hotel!! I paid for a three-night reservation but departed after less than a day (July 6, 2024). This was the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered. The rooms were filthy, with mold and rust present in the bathroom. The mattress was worn out and sunken. The beach was closed due to an accumulation of dry sargassum, which had not been cleared for days. The swimming pool was in a deplorable condition, filled with green, scummy water and debris. The buffet recycled the same soggy vegetables served at lunch for dinner and offered no main protein dish, having run out of meat despite the hotel being nearly empty. The overall condition of the premises was appalling. I demand a refund. When I voiced my concerns to the front desk, my complaint was dismissed with a mere, "Sorry, we don't have control over natural disasters," despite there being no damage to the property from Hurricane Beryl two days prior. Other hotel guests also complained about the situation, yet the hotel staff took no action to address our concerns.

Value, cleanliness and Comfort Just right for us. Not the highest end on scale of luxury, but staff and service overall were very accommodating, helpful and friendly. We were looking for value, cleanliness and comfort and we received just that. The food and drinks were plentiful, however not the best we have ever had. I would not recommend the pizza, but really enjoyed the fajitas. If you like ice cream, you do need to ask for it. There were many choices on the buffet. The rooms were huge, comfortable and clean but very dated. The views from our room were beautiful! My husband and I enjoyed the meals in the restaurant, but the dress code was not consistently enforced which caused friction in our group as well as others. Beach towel service and snorkeling gear was not the best, we have experienced better at other resorts. Pools were beautiful and clean, especially after coming in right after Hurricane Beryl. Staff worked around the clock to clean up the beach. The hotel is also old, part of it completely closed off, but a constant drum of activity to keep it up. We would consider staying there again.

Awesome A++++++ The manager (Omar) immediately took care of an issue we had and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and happy with our room. I came 1.5 days after hurricane Beryl and Omar’s staff worked around the clock to clean up the debris and repair damage from Beryl. The food is good and Danny our waiter is the BEST Waiter Ever. I have never been more impressed than I was with him. One evening after Danny had left, waiter Carlos looked after us for dinner. He was super and very attentive to our needs and wants. Roberto helped us to book an island tour and it was everything and more that he told us it would be. Ask Roberto to book your tour with Landry (A++++ for her). Thanks to all the staff at El Cozumeleno beach Resort for a great vacation.
