Unkept and Outdated We stayed here for our son’s sporting event so we did not choose the hotel as it was chosen for us. That being said, the staff we encountered were friendly. The lobby was nice, however that was the only area that was. The whole hotel needs updating and cleaning. We stayed in a jr. suite. The furnishings were worn and the carpet was dirty. Our bathroom had black hairs on the floor and BOOGERS on the inside shower curtain and on the sink counter! Absolutely disgusting! Almost every wall in our room had scuff marks going across them and the mini fridge had seen better days . The couch cushions had many stains. I found spots on our bed sheets and no mattress cover. The air vents were dirty and moldy. After returning from dinner the first night we took extremely slow and hot elevator up to our floor. When we got off there was very strong weed smell which was unpleasant. This happened both nights we were there. We used the fitness center which was also quite dirty. There is no cell service in the basement so we couldn’t use our phones for music. The equipment is very outdated (treadmills,l elliptical, bike) and the tv screens attached did not work. We found trash on the ground by equipment and trash bins were over flowing. The 2 hand sanitizer pumps were empty and there was no way to clean the machines or equipment after using. The pool is outside and very small but lists of seating. There is WiFi but it’s unsecured and anyone can access. Choose a different hotel. There are others in the area.

WEDDING NITE GONE WRONG May 3rd this year was my Wedding Day. My husband booked a room at Ethan Allen because he thought it a brand name he could trust would offer a good experience. Unfortunately, that did not turn out to be the case with us. We arrived about 12:45a to a Hotel with absolutely no power. We had no warning, no phone call to alert us of the situation. At almost 1:00 in the morning in Danbury CT we had not much choice to go elsewhere besides we were exhausted and ready to just relax in an air-conditioned room with light. I understand Ethan Allen was not at fault for the outage but it was a special night that we can not get back and it was not easy for us. Its been a few months and every time I tell the story, the immediate response is "I'm sure you got your money back and some complimentary meal or anything ?" We were offered nothing from Ethan Allen even after asking for some type of compensation. This was not just a regular night but one we wanted to try to make special and were not able due to the circumstances. I was left in my wedding dress to be escorted with my husband to walk stairs to the other side of the hotel to my room and struggle in a dark and a hot room and attempt to settle in on my honeymoon night. We were offered a flashlight with our escort. That was it. I expected a well known and respected brand like Etan Allen would have seen the situation and wanted to do right by THE ONLY PARTY that checked in on their WEDDING NIGHT!! The courtesy of good customer service was not extended in our case. VERY DISAPPOINTING _

TRASH DUMP What a dump! Our room needed some major updates. The bathroom has not been updated since the 70’s. Old toilet and the sink was pink and from the 70’s. The shower was old and nasty. The grout between the tiles was dingy and had mold. The shower head and the tub faucet were loose and the tub did not drain properly and filled up when taking a shower. The carpet was stained and the door lock was busted and looked to have been replaced a few times and was reinstalled crooked and with plaster they did not care to make it look nice. Base moldings everywhere in the hotel are beat to death. One stair case had plywood painted white and zip tied to the railing. We had to get our door keys programmed every day again and again. We saw the same trash and empty bottles and dirty glasses for 3 days in the lobby. COMPLETE DUMP!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! There are better places to stay.

In need of total renovation Outdated/dirty. Unwilling to assist with smoke detector going off in my elderly father’s room. We ended up removing the battery which is probably a safety violation. Very loud, late night party in gazebo until 2:00 am. No staff did anything to control the noise of shouting, music or barking dogs.

The Absolute Decline of a Once Great Hotel Been going to this Hotel over several years. Within the past year, the Hotel has really gone done. I fully concur with many other recent reviews regarding the upkeep and cleanliness of the rooms. And please note that I rarely write reviews; but, the apparent decline of this Hotel is so dramatic, potential guests of this Hotel should be better informed of recent issues with the Ethan Allen Hotel. Have gone to Hotel twice within the past 6 weeks. On both occasions rooms were not not made by housekeeping when requested (note: both times went to front desk and requested housekeeping provide fresh towels, and both times, request was ignored). The carpeting is stained along with the small couch and chair in the different rooms assigned. Desk in room was "mauled" with the exposed wood splintering; both bath towels provided were stained; TV in one room did not work; refrigerator in room looked liked it was tossed around being scrapped and dented. Further, hall carpeting was beyond stained; ripped, pieces gone and simply smelled bad. Used glasses littered the Hall with half-eaten meals on the Hall floor. On one particular Friday check-in, there was a wedding party also checking in around 4pm. Instead of having at least two front desk people assisting, there was only one person, who was overwhelmed. Took 25 minutes of standing in line to get a room key. I would have been really upset if this was my wedding party having to wait that long because the Hotel did not have enough common sense to see this long line and not provide additional help. It is truly unfortunate that the Hotel has fallen into such disrepair and lacks the basic housekeeping services and cleanliness that once existed. Management/owners should be encouraged to quickly update/renovate/invigorate this Hotel before its complete decline. Until improvements are made, I strongly suggest using another Hotel and spare the disappointment of sleeping at the Ethan Allen Hotel.
