Buck Rogers’ favourite hotel From the snazzy reception, bar and lounge - recently renovated and which the owners are rightly proud - you might be expecting a more refined aesthetic throughout. But past the unorthodox (but useful) elevator quadrangle you’re transported back to a bizarre neo-classic retro-futurist hotel that looks like a leftover from camp but cool eighties sci-fi series Buck Rogers in the Twenty Fifth Century. As the name implies, Greek colonnades are interspersed with glass brick walls and the big rooms feature multilevel floors and sunken bath tubs, though the one I stood in to shower was so flimsy I thought I might be early down to the bar. The suites are incredibly roomy, handy if you’re a family and the lighting continues the retro sci-fi theme even if the overall effect is a little patchy. Service was accommodating but the restaurant was closed and the well stocked but overpriced bar (and I’m a single malt guy) was largely empty and the barkeep had to be sought out more than once. Smooth valet parking makes this a great stop for travellers visiting Detroit’s Greek/Brick Town district but beware as there’s no shortage of roughnecks in the immediate vicinity - and that’s just the women.

Excellent Hotel Excellent hotel. Friendly service, large, clean rooms, excellent location to go to Ford Field or Comerica Park. We walked to see a Tigers game. There is a parking garage directly across the street from this hotel. Our room had a separate living room area, so it was very spacious.

Beautiful place The hotel is lovely. Check in was easy. My room had an area with a sofa and down several steps was a big bedroom. The bathroom had an enormous bathtub. I was a little upset to find out the bottles of water in the refrigerator were $5 a piece. When I stay at the Hilton, water is free. Parking was $20 and was fast and easy to drop off the car. Staff was helpful. I would stay here again.

Mixed We had a business event at this hotel. My feelings are mixed. Check in was easy. The team member was personable, polite and customer focused. I was fortunate to get a room/suite on an upper floor. The hotel is mature. It’s clear to see that the hotel team works to keep up with maintenance. The style of the hotel reminds me of the movie ‘Action Jackson’ in the way that it is styled. The bathroom was larger than most. Getting in and out of the large soaking tub was challenging. I was disappointed that the facility didn’t offer a sundries area/store. Our conference room attendants and team members were extremely attentive and positive. The lounge team lacked enthusiasm.

Shame on you I was there last week for the game. I am a Muslim from Lebanon and I wear Hijab. I had a very good time until one of the valet people, Darnell, said something about the bad people from Middle East and the black color they like to wear. He used the "T" word that I do not want to use here. Yes, my Higab was black, but Mr. Darnell, not everyone from Middle East is bad. Mr. Darnell, shame on you
