A must stay when visiting Durango CO Wow! This old hotel was amazing! Talk about stepping back in time! The staff here were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were period correct but had modern conveniences. One could spend a day just exploring the hotel. Loved the old staircase and was happy they also had an elevator!

Beautiful historic hotel within walking distance of a bunch of shops and restautants My husband and I stayed in a premium king suite and it was amazing. The furnishings were appropriate for the hotel and it was incredibly clean. There was ample parking for our vehicle and I loved that you could walk to so many shops and restaurants. I loved the small town feel of Durango, it was one of my favorite places on this trip. The staff were very friendly and we had a drink in the Office Spiritorium where there was live music playing. The hotel doesn’t serve breakfast but there are a number of cafes nearby.

What a lovely place didnt actually stay here, but we did pop in for a look and the doorman there was so very welcoming. Went out of his way to show us through the hotel and tell us the history of the place. Definitely worth a visit just for the historical insights and pictures.

What a delightful trip to a time long ago. Great staff super accommodations, the atmosphere was relaxing. Our room was historic and EXCEPTIONALLY clean. Our room was decorated with enough modern touches to not take away from the historic nature. Both bars had live entertainment in a Thursday night. If you want to take a trip to a time long ago you will enjoy everything from the piano player to the mailboxes at the front desk.

Nostalgic Strater-Magical Experience The Strater Hotel is a western treasure. The character, nostalgia, and beauty of the hotel is top notch. It feels like you are in a movie and the furniture throughout is gorgeous. The ragtime pianist is one of the best in the country. You must catch his set at The Diamond Belle Saloon, food is delicious also. The employees and staff were sweet and so friendly. The manager, Jesse, even gave us a pvt tour of the hotel, which we did not arrange or plan. The air conditioning in the room was not adjustable and was set at 65 F which was cold for my older parents. They did give us a heater. I dream of going back again someday!
