Verbally abused While staying at this hotel I was verbally abused by another guest after I asked if her party would, "Kindly please try not to slam your door and the exit door," which was right by my room. The matron of the group got in my face and started yelling at me. My little dog got out of the room and she threatened him. I picked him up and went to the front desk and told the clerk what had happened. The woman followed me and repeatedly called me, "White trash bitch," in front of the clerk and two other guests. I told the clerk to call the police and went back to my room. Since then, I felt unsafe staying another night, but the hotel refused a refund. The staff has put the onus on me since I did not call the police. I was flustered, upset, and could not think clearly. Beside that, my room phone did not work during my entire stay, even though I reported it. I thought the clerk would call the police. The general manager has not contacted me as I requested (he was not on site the last two days) after two emails. I am a disabled senior and a vulnerable adult. I did not call the offending person any names nor say anything negative to her. She should have been removed from the hotel. There were no consequences for her despicable behavior. And somehow all of this is MY fault? I don't even care about the refund now. I want an apology. Shame on you Sonesta.

Staying there now can't wait to leave. This place is a mess. It appears this is a recently converted Hampton Inn style hotel that has been poorly converted. The lightbulbs flicker in my room when I turn them on - some of them. There is mold on the wall paper, why not fix that when you converted? They do not offer wake-up calls, which as a hearing disabled person matters to me. Without hearing aids I need a loud alarm, louder than my phone can do. They do not make up rooms unless you ask, then they complain that it should only be every three days. There are 0 USB charging stations - something I tend to expect today. Only one of the elevators works, the other is permanently out of use according to the sign. The front staff do not seem to know what is going on and they are often not to be found at all with a sign saying, "will return later". This happened at 7:30am when many people were trying to check out. It's cheap and initially clean, but for $5 bucks more a night I can get breakfast (they do not offer), clean rooms and attentive front staff.

Durham NC Get Away Staycation Staycations can be just that little bit of a breather that busy work lives need. We are delighted with our stay in our local area at this quiet little get away. There were a few hiccups with our room, yet staff and management were right on top of things and got us settled into a perfect quiet room over looking the courtyard and pool area. It's been heavenly working on my travel quotes for clients in the room at the work desk with the pretty view and then taking a break to take a dip in the pool. I only gave it a 4 star rating instead of a 5 due to their restaurant being shut down (that was a disappointment and it can be an inconvenience to go out to get food), yet there are plenty of restaurants in the area and we had a wonderful dinner at the Mexican restaurant right down the block. Great little find and will definitely be back! Stephen was super helpful at the front desk. The hotel feels clean when you walk in and the staff try hard to take care of you. Kudos to this Sonesta hotel!

Disgusting This hotel can be described in two words: awful and avoid! Rooms were small and very uncomfortable. Only one night table. There was a dog barking all night. The clerk said there was nothing he of the hotel could do. Breakfast was 1/5 ( and that’s being generous) Avoid, avoid, avoid. We booked 5 nights and checked out after one. Did I mention avoid?

Smoke smell Strong smoke smell in room. Should have read reviews before booking through third party. Parking lot sketchy. Bathroom seems clean enough and no bedbugs. No breakfast. Would not book again, and wish we did not have a second night here.
