Metropolis is not the same It was taking months to fix an overcharge before I arrived that I was reaching out to the staff almost two times a week and at times no response. Before we arrived, I sent an email joking with the staff that they would be so annoyed with me that they would put me in the “bad room”. We had two rooms. Both smelt horrible. My room had items left in the room from the prior guest and no soap. I called the front desk the lady said “I can move you” then laughed at me. (I wasn’t going to move with kids after that) later I found out she laughs when she is nervous???? I know these bad rooms were intentional. If it wasn’t, they would have checked the room after I sent the email to make sure it was ok. I stuck it out and left, still waiting for my credit that was way overdue. I had emailed the GM of the hotel @samanthaHoltz and the GM of the resort @saraabbott many times in hopes to get this fixed. No response at all. The last conversation I told one person that they should just apologize, and he said, “well I am sorry you had an experience you didn’t like.” It makes me sad because we had gone there many years and we were hoping this could be a tradition for many more years. It makes me even more sad that the leadership wouldn’t even want to hear what happened. I wonder if @volumeone would still consider @saraabbott innkeeper of the year.

For families We had a fantastic time here! Traveled with an 8 and 5 year old, they loved the waterpark. It was the perfect size. The water temperature is very warm! The room was clean, beds comfortable, had a mini fridge and microwave. What really made this visit was the staff, the lifeguard/waterpark team was attentive, kind, helpful, and set the mood for a safe family atmosphere. They went above and beyond to watch my children and include them in activities. It’s the first waterpark we’ve been to where I felt like I could relax and know my children were totally safe.

Don’t expect a lot from the water park if you have older kids (pre-teen) We had the double Queen with double fold out couch. Rooms are pretty simple but clean. No coffee pot in room, although complementary coffee was in the lobby. Television kept pixelating so we had poor viewing, when the kids were tired. Water park is also pretty simple with 2 water slides and lazy river for older kids. Biggest problem was that the discount code wasn’t applied to our room even though they kept insisting it was.

High price for not great accommodations The word resort is pretty loosely used when in description on this establishment. We stayed over the holidays and found on check in that the water park and restaurants were closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day until 4. We were informed of this at check in despite being booked for months. The rooms were not in as nice condition as showed on line and the beds were made of some kind of weird foam on metal platforms that were easy to kick and when it happens it sounds like a gong. No housekeeping service during our stay either. We paid over $250 a night.

Great place to bring the kids We spent one night at the Metropolis and the facility was very clean and the place has so much to do for families with children. The rooms are very clean and updated and we had a massive shower that made it easy to showering off both kids after they went swimming. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. Unfortunately we went on a Wednesday night and the water park was only partially opened (I'm guessing from staffing issues) so we were unable to enjoy the water slides and lazy river. Overall this place looks like it would be a fun stop for a few days to keep the kids busy. I also recommend checking out the Mexican restaurant just outside of the facility, it was extremely cheap and the food was fantastic.
