Leonardo Edinburgh Murrayfield

Not the best experience! Sadly this hotel is not the best! To be honest the only plus is the staff! They are 100% trying their best in what can only be described is really challenging decline in the hotels maintenance and facilities! Check in was swift and friendly and was advised that the lift was not working due to the recent storm that has caused damage! We were allocated the 3rd floor which was ok with no lift this time as we only had an overnight bag! The room was not that great! A lot of stains on the carpet and skirtings! Windows have seen better days as there is mould and notice stains on the tiles in the bathroom! Nothing to freak out over but still not a good standard! What really has alarmed me was the stains on the mattress which i hadn’t noticed till the morning and i really just wanted out the room! The other issue was a generator or some sort of machine making a really loud noice at 06:30am onwards at first i thought it was a plane taking off but it was extremely loud in the bathroom! Food in the evening was very exceptable but again lack of staff and the poor waiter was doing bar, room service and in the restaurant such a shame to see him solo trying to juggle all off this and many left! We might have done if we arrived half hour later as that when it seemed to really pick up! Breakfast was again food wise was ok but again rather chaotic, trying to get mugs, bowls etc was just a nightmare, no replenishment! Again lack of staff again is clearly the issue! I really don’t believe we would return as the location is not the best there is no way it is Murreyfield it’s no where near! Breakfast was ok

Hotel in need of general maintenance Hotel is average at best I wanted to point out to other travellers who wish to use the gym facilities. It can only be described as NEEDING INVESTMENT, staff were lovely and it is clean that’s as far as it goes. Gym equipment is severely aged , machine coverings all ripped, treadmill seemingly been OOO for weeks according to one of the members. No music or tv in the gym, again broken. So after a silent workout I tried the pool which was excellent. Again that’s as far as it goes showers again in disrepair, broken tiles covered by matting. The lockers also seem scarce with some clearly broken. I have visited many Leonardo Hotels and the hotel management should take note , maintenance upkeep is an essential for your guest experience. I am booked again later this year I hope to hear positive feedback as I’m an avid gym goer. We will see hopefully when I return management have taken note.

Filthy changing rooms at pool We used the pool facilities as non hotel guests which was £30 for two adults 11 and 1 year old. My husband said the men’s changing rooms were satisfactory but the women’s were absolutely crawling with filth ! Mud all over the floor, only one shower door appeared to be able to be locked and inside the shower cubicle mould, filth and stains all over it not just from a few days of not being washed down ! The hairdryer is broken and the hose detaching so you can’t use that, prepare to leave with sodding hair. Ceiling and fixtures thick with dust and grime. Everything old and falling apart. I wouldn’t let my kids shower there they got changed and home for a shower in the house. I am absolutely shocked this hotel is left in this condition. Would not recommend or return. The pool was warm enough for a 1 year old and The staff on front desk at leisure area were friendly enough those are the only positives.

Needs Improvement We stayed at the Leonardo Hotel for two nights. While the room was clean and fairly basic, our experience left much to be desired. On the first night, water started pouring from the ceiling into our room, even seeping through the light fixture and causing the electricity to go out. The staff moved us to a room in the basement, but the atmosphere was eerie and uninviting. To make matters worse, the shower in the new room was falling apart, with pieces breaking off during use. Although the price was affordable, the overall experience was disappointing. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Worst hotel stay ever Terrible experience: I stayed in April and had a lovely time. Thought the negative reviews were a one off - what a mistake to make. DO NOT STAY HERE! There was a party until gone 11pm and the language and threats of violence I could hear through my door was shocking! The room was cold and noisy. Terrible nights sleep. Told reception the next day and their unhelpful respond ‘we have no parties tonight’. No apologies, almost implying I should be grateful for this. Take my advice and avoid at all costs especially if you have young children
