Various meals! During lockdown 2020 and early 2021 we have several home delivered meals from The Brookfield Hotel & Hermitage Restaurant. Food was always delicious, hot and good poritions with delivery times being punctual. In extreme circumstances we were very impressed. Subsequently we have enjoyed various meals and Sunday lunches at The Brookfield and have been delighted on every occasion. Staff are always friendly and willing to oblige - nothing is too much trouble and as far as is possible special requests are always fulfilled. A belated retirement Sunday lunch for my husband was enjoyed recently when, again, the staff pulled out all the stops to make it a success for all concerned. Highly recommend a visit to anyone.

Lovely hotel, but a few niggles Very much enjoyed a three-night stay at Brookfield House, very clean and comfortable, staff very friendly overall - and they were clearly having to work very hard due to current staff shortages plaguing the hospitality industry. One plus point of hotel is location, with buses outside every 20 minutes to Portsmouth and Chichester, which means the car doesn't always have to be used! I agree with comments on parking charge, which is rather irritating - there are more spaces than guest rooms, but some of them seem to be permanently taken over by the local garage/car dealer.

Excellent Stay Had a really lovely relaxing stay at the Brookfield. Everyone made us feel very welcome, the room and bed were comfortable, food was very good and the gardens pretty. Afternoon tea was one of the best we have had. Good location easy to get to local attractions. Elmsworth itself is a pleasant town with its own waterfront with some good places to eat.

University of Portsmouth graduation attendance ? this hotel is worth a look Recently stayed at the Brookfield Hotel for a two night stay whilst visiting Portsmouth for our daughter's graduation. Just 10-15 minutes outside of Portsmouth and very close to A3. Staff were very friendly. Hotel was very clean...i didn't notice any dust anywhere !!! We stayed in Room 31 which I am told has recently had the bathroom renovated - not our choice of colour, for a room with no natural light i would have chosen a lighter colour scheme personally... Food in the restaurant was fine though and well presented. We chose not to have breakfast in the hotel as we saw it was £14.50 for a full-english. Would we stay here again ? Yes....the hotel doesn't set the world on fire but it does everything well, and as a base for a short trip in the Portsmouth area its more than adequate.

Very pleasant clean hotel with a few minor problems. Recently spent four days with two Travelzoo vouchers. A lovely hotel, immaculately clean and very pleasant staff. For us though let down by a few features. On arrival we were charged twenty pounds and required immediate payment for parking our car in their car park even though in their hotel brochure it clearly states there is no charge for guests. It seems to me they were trying to squeeze as much as they can from guests to cover the results of Covid. The fact that there were far more cars in the car park than those of guests and staff seemed to confirm this. We were not told that payment for anything had to be immediate – thus causing us some embarrassment when told that we had left the table without paying on the first night. The reception was rarely manned, telephones had been removed from rooms when instructions in the room suggested that reception was phoned in emergencies. Even if there was a phone there probably would not be anyone in reception. Food in the restaurant was very good but the menu quite limited particularly for anyone staying more than a couple of days. The system at breakfast of bringing orders on a trolley and asking the customer to take them off seems rather odd as the waiter had put the items on the trolley in the first place. Some of the pricing on the wine list does not make sense. For instance, 3 large 250 ml glasses of wine (equivalent to one bottle) are one pound cheaper than ordering a bottle. Hot water not available on two days – barely luke warm. Reported the fact but no reaction. A very nice hotel, but needs some attention to customer liaison. For us a disappointing stay in several respects.
