Don’t book here. Hotel closed and never notified me. Couldn’t get through to call and find out why I wasn’t notified. Luckily I wasn’t charged. Yet. Not a great way to notify travelers coming in from out of town. Had to scramble to find another place to stay last minute.

Should be condemned _ Do not stay here. Do not believe the pictures on-line from 1978. The hotel is rundown, filthy, BED BUGS!!! (Management denies, got pictures) Smells, stains on every inch of carpets/sheets/furniture. Everyone in Erie, PA knows that this is a haven for homeless and crack addicts. It is simply filthy and disgusting throughout. Some Uber drivers will not pick up here. There is no restaurant; there is no nightclub; there is no breakfast buffet….as they advertise. Paper thin walls to hear prostitutes going at it. Bars empty at 2am…you’ll hear that…and street sweeper comes around 4:30am. WORST place I’ve ever stayed. Very misleading. Bedding and beds=SUCK. You have been warned! Stay at a chain hotel down the street. You’ll thank me later.

This hotel should be ashamed This hotel is willing to long-term house "scab" workers, brought in from other states, to cross picket lines at a union shop. The Avalon is also overpriced considering the amenities that are offered-you will get a lot more "bang for your buck" at the other hotel options along the bayfront or around the I-90/Peach Street corridor.

AVOID: Lots of rats and scabs This place is filled with rats and scabs. Specifically, they house people scabbing at Wabtec in Erie. We asked them to do something about it, but they refused. Plus, they don't seem to care much about their customers or their community. I would definitely avoid it.

Dont believe everything you read about this hotel I don't understand why this hotel has negative reviews! My family and i always stay at the avalon and have always adored this property. It might be an older building however my family had a clean room, great customer service from house keeping and the front desk and you can tell this staff really goes the extra miles for the guests. WE WILL BE BACK!
