Best Western Escondido Hotel

Usually trust reviews, this one disappointed. Reviews sounded good so we booked a room for a night. Walked in, no one around, stood at the desk for a while, finally a young gal walked up, made no eye contact and finally asked, "name". Completed the checking process which took forever, not a word from her. Told me to initial and sign, which I did. I asked why they needed a $100 deposit, she said in case I damage the room. I jokingly asked if they were concerned a 65 year old guy was going to break the place up, she got all defensive and retreated into the back office. So much for pleasentries and humor! The room was OK, ac didn't work until I jiggled the knobs then the old thing started up rattling like a good thing. Definitely on its last leg. The pool was dirty, useful towels all over the place and leaves in the pool, on the water and bottom. Beds were not all that comfortable, linens old and worn. Breakfast didn't open until right at 6, no early morning coffee available except the crappy stuff in the room. The food was delicious and the nice gal working in the breakfast area was very nice, friendly and helpful. Bottom line, if I was ever back in the area I'd find a different place to stay.

It's the Owners - If You are Black or Brown Do not Stay at the Best Western Escondido Hotel I am writing to express my deep concern about the discriminatory treatment I experienced during my recent stay at the Best Western Escondido Hotel located at 1700 Seven Oakes Rd., Escondido, CA. It is not merely my perception; I had a conversation with another guest, a Latino gentleman, who also expressed similar concerns about racist behavior from the hotel. As a person of color (Brown/Black), I encountered this treatment from the hotel owners themselves. I believe that no guest should face discrimination based on their race or ethnicity. I urge you to address this issue promptly and take necessary steps to ensure that all guests are treated equally and respectfully. Sincerely, C

Excellent stay .The staff was great. We had a excellent stay. We were there for our convention. This is the second time that we stayed at that hotel. It is right off the express way

One of better places to stay in Escondido for the money A good but not great value relative to Escondido. The staff is friendly and helpful. But they never cleaned my room in the week I stayed there. Apparently, they try to only clean rooms between stays. To be fair, they would have cleaned it, if I had asked. And I was able to get fresh towels, etc. from the cleaning staff. Fridge has a freezer compartment, a rarity. I have the most up to date version of Microsoft Word, and the printer available to guests could not recognize and print that version. Indeed, the computer/print set up could not take a flash drive with a USB-C port, just B ports.

Clean bed and friendly staff Stayed with my boyfriend for one night . Friendly staff. Could use better remotes and better pillows.
