Unethical Business Practices Unethical business practices. I was forced to cancel my reservation due to the Wild fires near Estes Park. State of emergency for the entire area. Travel to the area unadvisable and unsafe. The owner’s response? “Sorry. No refunds.” They then promptly stoped replying to my emails. Wildfires made the area unsafe. This establishment refused cancellation, deferred reservation or refund. This establishment refused any and all possible solution except keeping my money for free. Think before you book how you would like a business to treat you in a crisis situation.

Big disappointment I recently stayed at the Blue Door Inn with a group of friends. Apparently they had a management change between the time we booked the rooms months ago and our arrival. The new management is confrontational and argumentative. I personally had an issue where a shower chair (I'm a double amputee) failed and dumped me onto the floor of the shower. When I informed management of this incident, they didn't even ask if I was okay. They replaced the shower chair 3 days later with the cheapest chair money can buy, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. The motel is older and it clearly shows. I would not stay here again.

Stay elsewhere. We looked at this location last year and talked with the management then to set up a group. Management was great then. Rooms were clean as we watched one of the maids clean it good. Fast forward to this year, management has changed and not for the better. We also discussed with the previous management about having our group located together. We were scattered around the hotel. Rooms appeared clean, but that was misleading. Floor was disgusting. Socks turned black just walking in the room. Took a damp rag and cleaned a 1'x2' area and you can judge by the picture. One day we walked into the room and an empty condom box was on our night stand. Ummm, we don't use condoms and it really made us think of what is going on. Wish I would have taken a picture of it. Did they finally find it under the bed? Really shows how they clean between stays. As we left for the day, we asked for new towels and coffee pods. Came back, no new towels and no coffee pods or cups in the room. Breakfast was ok the first couple of days and then the eggs were cool and watery, gravy for biscuits were lukewarm. Finally, one person in our group is disabled and needs a shower chair. The one in the room broke and he was on the floor and struggled to get up since he is a double amputee on both legs. Talked with the front desk and they said they would get a replacement. Three days later and I finally saw the manager carry a chair towards the room. However, he put it in the maids cleaning room. We were all standing there watching him. I walked over and grabbed it and took it to his room.

Okay Stay After reading several glowing reviews I had high expectations for our stay. While we had a good stay, it definitely did not live up to the reviews. We enjoyed our balcony room watching prairie dogs and elk and the mountain view. Our room was clean, but worn. We had looked forward to the activities the reviews talked about, but none of those happened. The pool was dirty, the hot tub didn’t work, and there was no nightly fire. We did ask and could start a campfire ourselves, but there were no s’mores like the reviews said. While the person at the front desk was nice, it didn’t seem to be the same people the reviews had talked about who were so welcoming and hospitable. Overall, our stay was fine. It was a great location and a good price. It just didn’t live up to our expectations.

Solid hotel to stay at. Would definitely recommend. Just got back from our trip and would definitely recommend this hotel. I am used to more corporate hotel chains, but found this hotel from Tripadvisor reviews. I would go back to this hotel. It is clean the receptionist was very capable and breakfast very good.
