Great potential...needs work! We visited this facility due to the historical feel of the pictures. Inside, there was great history in the guests and stories of the past. However, the restoration attempts still need work. Substandard lighting, dark hallways and inconvenient flow of the small bathrooms made the stay mediocre. As there appears to be difficulty in maintaining staff, the guest services needed some more polish, as well.

Old hotel in sketchy neighborhood Squeaky floors, no air conditioning, cannot open windows due to no screens, parking lot across street in low lighting with people walking the area all hours of the night, check out before check out time-but will charge you for another night if you had a reservation for that night, breakfast sandwiches only so must microwave a meal.

Historic Hotel Vibes We stayed for two nights at the Eureka Inn. It's very much a historic or period hotel. Grand from the outside and the lobby and lounge have that same grand historic atmosphere. Lots of wood, overstuffed furniture, photos of famous celebrities who have stayed there, a mezzanine around the lobby. The lounge had a piano player. It felt like you were walking into the past. Our room was fine. It had obviously been updated, but still felt rather old. However, it had all the important requirements covered. A comfortable King Size bed, the Wi-Fi was working fine, good water pressure, an in room mini-frig including a freezer. Our room overlooked the outdoor pool. It was too cold to swim, but it looked nice from above. One window opened out to let in fresh air. There was a small parking-lot beside the hotel and a larger fenced in parking lot which is locked overnight. We were an easy walking distance to downtown Eureka with a small waterfront, multiple restaurants, and they even had a little music fest one of the nights we were there. We were perfectly happy with our stay at the Eureka Inn.

Amazing return. This was a return trip 56 years in the making and it was just as fabulous as it was 56 years ago. What a great place to stay. No there is no air conditioning but since the temperature rarely hits 70 in Eureka that was never an issue. The windows open and the fresh air was wonderful. The hotel is now a historic site and the sitting room brings you back to the last century. I loved it this time as much as I did in 1968. The main change is the restaurant which no longer offers the kind of American fare they used to. We went out to eat. The first time we flew into Eureka so we did not have a car. Parking is not so great but it sure didn't put a damper on our stay. It was great.

Best Hotel in Eureka, and a historical landmark. I've stayed there many times before, and will stay there again. We use it as our base when we visit our daughter who lives there. It isn't uber-luxury, but it is a really nice hotel with a great lobby and amazing history.
