Horrible hotel - stay away I have similar experience described in other reviews. Do not stay here. I also was called and asked what time I would arrive and how many people are in my reservation. This has never happened in any other hotel and I am very well travelled here in US and internationally. Check-in was through the machine. Then a woman appeared. I was discussing the deposit with her and she told me that if I continue arguing with her, that is talking with her, she would ask me to leave their hotel without staying there. This was a threat. I felt very unwelcome. Also, they don't want you to use their towels because if they find them dirty, that is used, they will use your deposit to clean them. And you can read other reviews that they indeed accused people of dirtying their towels. I did not even take a shower and left in the morning as soon as I could. After reading these reviews, I see that I made a right decision. In the morning, there was a gentleman at the reception who also was rude. Also: parking is difficult in this hotel. You have to use a code to open their garage gate. The room smelled chlorine very strongly. I had to open windows and leave the room for the small to go away. It was nauseating. Also, the hotel replied to my review of them on Expedia. And their reply included all lies. If you don't want to be kicked out of this hotel for just talking with them or pay for using their towels, avoid this hotel like a plague.

Would stay again. It was a bit dificult to find. The room was very comfortable. The only fault was that there was only one chair in the room. Should have been 2. The room was spacious. We were on the 1st floor so it was difficult to get our luggage up the steep steps but we managed. The staff at reception were very friendly and helpdulll

Warning others who might think about staying here The morning of arrival, I got a phone call asking what time I was arriving, they needed to know? I told them we are out for the day, sightseeing, I have no idea. They wanted to know how many people were arriving each hour. Never had that happen. Then arriving was told there is $100 deposit. I said, it does not say anywhere about you requiring a deposit, she said, we just do. Also, there are no real humans at the desk when you check in, just a kiosk. It felt very impersonable. I had a question once in our room, the phone in the room did not work, so I used my cell phone, and also told them about the not working phone, they just said ok. I assume they knew about it but it never got fixed. Says breakfast included on the ad. So the next morning went down to see what they offered...get this, opened Poptart's (not in their foil package) sitting on display and granola bars!!!! The next morning a sign on the office door said to go across the street to the Super 8 if you want breakfast.

AVENUE OF THE GIANTS& Fern Canyon -Eureka Stayed 2 nights, while visiting the Redwood Forest. I asked for a room on the ground level and was very happy to park the car in front of the room. It's a nice place, I'm glad I booked it. Highly recommend: clean, quiet, convenient location and a high tech virtual check in...
