Silver Maple Lodge & Cottages

A rustic country experience. This was a stay with a group of friends. The place is quite rustic and country-like. The room was comfortable and clean, with windows overlooking the trees. There is a huge wrap-around porch with chairs which was great for socializing and also a big living room. The cabins have microwaves and mini-fridges, but the rooms do not. The caretaker was very friendly and helpful. Great location, although you do hear the noise from the road. A couple of things…the “continental breakfast” is quite minimal, with a few pastries and instant coffee. And the inside common areas were very musty and damp-feeling. It might be helpful to have a couple of dehumidifiers or space heaters to dry it out.

Musty and dirty My stay reminded me of going to an old, abandoned house, musty, dusty and the low point, trash from the previous occupant still in the bathroom Plus it is not near the highway, it is (essentially) on the highway, loud and unpleasant The host is super friendly but that is poor recompense for the miserable conditions

Try to get a cottage, don't stay in the house The owners are very nice but they are older and the place is just not clean. The house has a very musty odor (probably mold). The breakfast is quite meager: packaged danish and packets of instant oatmeal. Why not a little fresh fruit? One of our group stayed in a cabin which was better than the house and included a wood burning fireplace which was ready to light. There is a laundromat next door and a mediocre restaurant.

Scott always makes you feel welcome We stay at Silver maple a couple of times a year, We love the detached cottages with fireplaces. Wonderful to sit out on the front porch with a drink in the evening or coffee in the morning. A great location and we are never disappointed!

Loved our stay! If you are trying to escape to a simpler time this B&B is a great place to stay. The quaint bedroom in the main house was spotless. Our private bathroom has wonderful water pressure. The bed was extremely comfortable. Scott, the owner, is personable. He has an extensive knowledge of the area. His suggestions for dining were right on target. The rooms upstairs do not have televisions, telephones or air conditioning. Hence the return to a simpler time. The weather was in the mid eighties, but with an open window and a fan, it was quite cool. It reminded me of staying with my Nana as a child complete with the slightly musty smell of the furniture. The screen porch featured comfortable chairs for relaxing and reading. The landscape is beautiful. There was a light continental breakfast served in the morning. Strong hot coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and juice. A selection of local quick breads and muffins were offered The addition of fresh fruit and yogurt would be welcome. My husband and I would be happy to stay here again. The price is reasonable the rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable, and the host was pleasant and helpful.
