Ridiculous Fees They charge $65 for early check-in! Seriously?! I understand late check-out to turn rooms, but what about guests traveling into town for wedding and request just couple hours earlier than the 4pm check-in time to get ready for event??? That fee is ridiculous! Wont stay ever again

Renovations taking place are amazing! It's very exciting to see that Pala Mesa, which has been a diamond in the rough locally, is under new ownership. They have brought in professionals with impressive experience to make this resort one that we will be proud of locally. The renovations taking place are amazing and the dedication to customer service and cuisine in the restaurant will be hard to match. Very impressed and excited for the future!

Loyal customer On Monday, July 17th, 2023, I had what might be my stepdad's last visit to Pala Mesa Resort, and it turned into a complete disaster. You see, my stepdad introduced me to this place back in 2000, and since then, it has been my favorite getaway for golfing. We used to visit frequently, enjoying the kind and friendly staff who were always helpful. But this time, everything went downhill. We started our golf round at 9:10 AM, but the weather was scorching hot, and my stepdad couldn't keep up due to his illness. He tried to enjoy the day, reminiscing about his time as a professional caddy for Herman Keizer, but the heat got the best of him, and we had to call it quits after just five holes. Wanting to escape the unbearable heat, I went to the front desk to see if we could check into our room earlier than the designated 4 PM time. My poor stepdad was exhausted, and I was willing to pay the extra fee for early check-in. But you won't believe what happened next – they flat out refused, despite the resort not being busy at all. Can you imagine the insensitivity? I pleaded with them, explaining that this visit was significant for us as it was my stepdad's way of saying goodbye to a place he cherished deeply. He's 84 years old, for crying out loud, and battling illness. But did they care? No. The manager got involved, and still, they wouldn't budge, sticking rigidly to their 4 PM check-in policy. It's appalling how Pala Mesa Resort treats its loyal customers. There was even an option to pay extra for early check-in, but they don't honor it when you need it the most. Loyalty is a forgotten concept to them. This was supposed to be a meaningful final trip for my stepdad, but instead, it turned into an emotionally draining ordeal, all thanks to the heartless staff at Pala Mesa Resort. I'll think twice before ever recommending this place to anyone again.

not starting out so hot Full disclosure, I just booked my stay n play package trip today and don't go until 5/21, but it's not starting off too well. I tried 3 separate times to book a reservation on the phone with no luck. the first call i was on hold for 15 minutes and tried later that day (4:00 pacific time) and they were closed. Called back this morning and the call center operator said she had never heard of a stay n play package and could only reserve a room for me. i hung up, called another number (there were a couple of different sites/numbers on the internet for pala mesa) and the next operator said the dates i wanted to book were blocked out and there was no vacancy. I was looking at the availability on their website and it showed availability. So then I just booked the room on their website. I got a confirmation email and then called the pro shop to book my tee time, and the gentlemen said I couldn't make an advanced tee time even if I was staying on the stay n play package. I had to call back 10 days before my arrival to book the tee times. I've been coming to pala mesa for 20 years prior to covid and never had these issues. it's obviously under new management. I'm leery of my upcoming trip. I will give an update and see if things work themselves out.

Look Elsewhere…Pass I booked a Stay & Play package for my wife and I. We love our golf get-a-ways in Southern California and thought Fallbrook North County would be perfect in October. We arrived at Pala Mesa Resort an hr early as recommended on pre check-in email, to find our golf reservations were canceled. The golf “Pro” had a total “tude”. Made us feel like he was doing us a favor for getting “us in” an hr later. No apologies, no sorry’s…just an attitude… After huge delay, we were off…kinda…they forgot to disclose that it was “cart path” only. The fairways were shaggy and difficult to find your ball. The twosome we were paired with took 20 mins to find their balls on the first hole. Just to find a backup on the second hole thru 18 holes….Bottom line.. the course was a total “Dog track”. Terrible maintenance. Tee boxes, traps, and fairways were awful. After 1 1/2 hrs…on the fifth hole, our playing partner’s quit to get a refund. They had enough. (We should have done the same!) A $35 course at best. The round was painful. The slowest round I’ve “EVER” played. (and I’ve been playing for over 35 yrs) The Resort is a dump. Except for the recently renovated interior rooms. The place was a ghost town. We saw only one car in our cul-de-sac. The pool area had new patio furniture but the pool was “tired”. The Jacuzzi was covered by a piece of plywood. The front desk, pro shop, bathrooms, snack bar were termites infested shacks out of the 1970’s. And note the restaurant closed at 7:30 and closed for breakfast. Your 10 miles from nowhere… I must say, with the exception of the golf pro, the staff was wonderful. But overall the two day stay was a “Bust”! One of the worst experiences in our golfing get-a-way outings. We were very disappointed to say the least… I would look elsewhere…PASS!!! Steve, San Clemente
