Holiday Inn Express Federal Way Seattle South by IHG

Clean and comfy When I booked this hotel I was a little skeptical due to the rating. But the place was very clean and staffs were friendly. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Complementary breakfast was pretty good. They changed the menu every morning. I would revisit this hotel. My rental car was safe.

GREAT STAY I had a nice stay here for 2 nights (business travel). The hotel is conveniently located right next to the freeway. Plenty of restaurants and shops within the area, some which you can walk to such as the strip mall across the street. Hotel felt brand new and was clean. Free hot breakfast served. Snack bar selling alcohol, snacks, foods, ice cream, etc. Free parking on premise with plenty of spots. Spacious and comfortable room. 2 HBO channels on TV. For the hot breakfast, almond milk was provided for the cereal which was a very nice touch for those with lactose issues and cannot drink regular milk. Gym had up to 50# dumbbells, treadmills, and functional training machine with a pull up bar. If I am in the area again I will stay here.

Great rooms, friendly staff, free breakfast but with some issues. The Good: Very clean, modern rooms. Friendly front desk. Free breakfast. Plenty of parking. Close to great retail and restaurants. Centrally located between Tacoma, Seattle, and Sea-Tac. The Bad: Hot water is generated in the room and on demand. Unfortunately, this didn’t work well, resulting in some lukewarm showers. The front desk recommended letting the water run for 5 to 10 minutes. That worked in one room but not the other. The Ugly: Vandalism. It’s not the hotel’s problem but a broader issue for the Federal Way area. All hotels in the area are likely exposed to the same risk of vandalism.

Fantastic Stay Had a fantastic stay. Warm welcome, super clean hotel, very comfy bed, delicious breakfast, easy access to I-5. Hotel let us check in early. Even gave us a room with a view of Mt Ranier. We could not have asked for a better quick overnight stay. Thanks to Raj who checked us in for a great room .

Bait and Switch My son booked us a 2 bedroom suite for 2 nights several weeks before we arrived in the Seattle area. At the time the reservation page never mentioned that the suite would not be available but it did mention that was construction going on so it might be noisy. My son called a couple weeks before our arrival to add my name to the reservation since I would be arriving before his family. Again, no mention of the 2 bedroom suite not being ready. A week before our arrival my son received a call that the suite probably wouldn’t be ready but they could put us in 2 rooms at about double the price of our reservation. He told them that wasn’t acceptable. Next they offered to put us all in the same room which definitely was not doable. After making several calls they finally offered a discounted rate on 2 rooms but that was still more than the original rate of the suite. Since it was only a couple days before our arrival for a cruise, we had to take their offer. I understand that they had no control over the construction but they should have honored the original rate. They also could have let us know much sooner that the suite would not be available. I was very disappointed in their response to the situation. It was a bad business decision and I cannot recommend this property because they had the choice of making it right by honoring the rate was booked. The hotel was under construction but it looks like it will be very nice when done. The breakfast was good.
