This has to be the worst destination in the Marriott portfolio The best thing I can say about this location is that it appeared to be clean. The pool area is nice. The surrounding area is not a great place for families to visit. About halfway through the first day, our room was warm. We were not there much on day 1 so we did not really notice and we also know that some hotels "govern" the thermostats and thought perhaps that was the issue. After being out and about in the 90+ degree heat. We did not notice that the room was still warm when we got back. I woke up around 3 AM sweating. Our temperature was set to 65 degrees and it was 81 degrees in the room. I made a video to demonstrate that I had the unit on correctly. The front desk offered to credit us for our incidentals but that was a total of only $38. Additionally, we were on the 7th floor and could hear the music from the street level pretty loud in our room until almost 11 PM. So, I am hopeful that MVC will refund the points. I highly recommend against booking this location unless you must be in Ft. Lauderdale. Oceana Palms is less than 45 minutes north in Riviera Beach and it is spectacular.

Maybe reconsider I’ve traveled to many different Marriott resorts especially within Florida and this was my least favorite. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly, something that Marriott has a great reputation for. They communicate w guests via text about activities. There are only four elevators that service this resort and the shops below. To get an elevator can take a long time. The parking levels are on the fourth and fifth floors and it takes a while to get up and down. At check in we were told that beach chairs and towels would be available to us. When i went to get beach chairs they ran out and I ended up paying $65 on the beach—-if they run out of chairs give a voucher to the vendor on the beach. The resort is filled to capacity so the supply should be there. I’ve felt more relaxed at other Marriott resorts (like Marco Island)

Positive and Negatives Ok first the positives 1. Our Villa was clean, well appointed and family friendly with great views of intercoastal. 2. The staff were friendly, helpful, and competent. 3. The hotel pool is a refuge from the “beach scene”. Sadly the negatives are why we can’t recommend to friends to come to the area or the hotel. We are Mariott Elite Members but some of these comments apply to this beach area and would be for all of the hotels in the vicinity. 1. This area of the beach is not family friendly. The area attracts a lot of party scene types and classless types. This is not what you want your kids to see!!!! The front street and back street are full of loud (illegal) cars blaring music and revving engines at all hours. Then there are the motorcycles popping wheelies. The smell of weed is constant along the beach, the sidewalk and even hotel parking garage. This is on top of so many who seem to smoke cigarettes and toss them everywhere. I sure hope the city leadership starts to pay attention…it’s going downhill fast from what we remember from past visits. 2. The elevators are a deal breaker for us. The 4 they have are not adequate to accommodate the traffic. It’s not exaggerating to say you may wait up to 10 minutes to get on. Not sure why this is? Maybe the guests are overpacking the rooms? At checkin time the lobby is elbow to elbow and guests are trying to get to their room at the same time. Social distancing is an impossible task in the elevator because guests need to crowd on or wait and wait. 3. The parking garage takes you at least 10-15 minutes to get to the Mariott level. If you are parking and not driving or arriving by air this won’t be a factor but we had to come and go several times a day and it really created time sensitivities. Be aware there is no easy lobby drop off or pickup.

Beautiful Ft.Lauderdale Beach Great place to stay If walking a few steps to enjoy the beautiful Ft.Lauderdale beach is your thing. Hotel/Resort is very clean and customer centered. All the staff have be very professional and very friendly. Rooms are well appointed yet simple. Two bedroom villa’s are fantastic….lot’s of room and two separate balconies to enjoy the ocean or downtown Ft.Lauderdale views! Great pool with plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas and a walk up poolside restaurant. Location is excellent and there are restaurants and shops in the attached Beach Place mall downstairs. One stop vacation spot! Parking ramp attached to property and daily fee for guests at Marriott BeachPlace are reasonable for the area.
