Hampton Inn & Suites Fredericksburg South

Solid Choice This is a nice new Hampton Inn. The location was perfect and easy to get to. Everything was cleaned properly in the hotel. The bedding and bath products were nice. The breakfast was the usual standard Hampton breakfast which I am never a huge fan of, but it is sufficient. Lots of choices for lodging in this immediate area and this one is a solid, safe choice.

Very Good Accommodations Hotel recently renovated. Room furnishings and carpeting looked new. Great breakfast. Elegant breakfast room also. Quiet. Not a lot of places to walk to. In a heavily congested business district and no crosswalk to the Grill restaurant across Market Street which felt a bit dangerous crossing.

Good stay with a great restaurant next door Great stay! I loved this hotel. I believe they were going through a renovation when I was there, but my floor was completed and I had a great stay! Comfortable beds, great pillows. It was a really great stay! I would gladly stay here again. Head to Legends Grille across the street, too. It was REALLY good.

Rude and uncaring front desk We made reservations for a one night stay. Check in time is 3:00 and we arrived around 3:30. The man working the front desk told us our room was not ready (2 queen beds). When we asked when it would be ready his reply was he didn't know. He said it could be an hour from now or some time tonight! I asked if he could contact the cleaning staff to get a better answer. He said no. He did not apologize or try to make something work for us. He was completely indifferent. I asked if he could give us any other room with 2 queens and he said no. I then asked if he could give us a room with a king size bed. He said yes. He then proceeded to repeatedly answer the phones and/or leave the desk all together. Almost ignoring us. He finally said he was having a hard time getting the computer to get a room for us. FINALLY after almost an hour of waiting he gave us a handicapped room with 2 queen beds. Again no apology. The room itself was clean and there weren't any other issues. We spoke to another couple in the lobby who said they had to wait 1 1/2 hours to get in their room. I know staffing is tough, but why not at least have the rooms ready for the people with reservations and maybe be a little more caring? They have signs saying (paraphrase) "We are here to make you happy." Well, they didn't.

Showing It's Age... Staff helpful and location is convenient to-horse show grounds but building and rooms are musty, parking lot full of storage containers, and renovations clearly overdue. keep expectations low. I have not traveled much post Covid perhaps this is the new standard.
