Best Western Galena Inn & Suites

Nice room and close to downtown Galina. Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a room on the back side of the building, view of the trees was very calming. There was a hot tub and inside pool which looked inviting however, we did not use because we were sightseeing.

Mildew smell and wet carpet- My husband decided we needed an overnight get away. He rented an over the top room called “the cave” at the Best Western in Galena IL. We arrived a little later than planned. Check in went well- down the stairs we went . Opened the door and the mildew smell hit you in the face. It was especially bad near the heat/ AC unit near the exterior wall- so we shut that unit off. It was one of 2 units for the room. We called the front desk- he showed us a second option. That was just completely lacking. I could tell my husband was more than a little disappointed by my strong reaction. The staff offered to get some “room spray” I opted to get the spray I had purchased earlier that day that was meant for our home. I tried to make the best of it. Sprayed the room, tried to sleep- had to go to the bathroom, when I got out of bed this time I didn’t put my sandals on—- ughhh!!! The carpet is soaked all around the bed- near the couch area all in front of the jacuzzi. Didn’t sleep at all- used my room spray every hour. Had to put it under my nose due to the mildew smell. And then the toilet wouldn’t flush. My husband was sound asleep. He was exhausted from his hard work on the farm the previous few days. If not for that- I would have checked out at 1 am, when I found the wet carpet!!!!! They gave us 60.00 off of 365.00 a night. This room needs to be closed down!!! Carpet removed and mold that I am sure is under the carpet pad mitigated!!!!! The Health department should be called in!!!

Good for the price The biggest benefit to this hotel is that it's just a couple of minutes from downtown Galena. I consider this a budget hotel but the room was very large and clean with simple decor. Breakfast was included with the price and was adequate with egg omelets, pancakes, etc. Get a room facing the rear of the hotel as it faces woodland.

Awesome stay Our state was absolutely amazing. The staff was very knowledgeable and very helpful with everything that we need at the room super impressed.

Very disappointed Trash left in room, food left in mini fridge from previous occupants, stains on pillows, water leaking from ceilings in hallway that smelled like sewage, and bottle of cleaning solution left in bathroom. Seemed like our room was only half cleaned.
