Dont Stay Here We stayed at Chestnut Mountain to be close to the Vineyard we were visiting. Checking in the front desk staff very helpful and friendly. In our room, 6 flies on the window. According to the maintenance man, other rooms have wasps nest around their windows. He sprayed bug spray, and filled the small openings with tissue. The whole resort need complete cleaning and renovation. The hall carpet, torn and dirty. Outside things to do, was not what we thought was enjoyment. This is mainly a winter sport area with ski lift. On checkout we read the reviews that the Summit room had great food. Only serviced buffet food - $15. Scrambled eggs were watery on the bottom pan. Pancakes were paper thin, hard and tasteless. I asked for Honey, and the packet was hard and dry. Hostess, unfriendly - same with our waitress. Big disappointment.

Do not stay This place is extremely outdated and needs updates. A few people in our party had to move rooms multiple times due to issues. They were in the dog rooms but these rooms had issues with cleanliness and the water smelled. Sherra the coordinator was useless and lied about multiple things. She was lying to the bride of our wedding the other wedding thag weekend & blaming her mismanagement and inability to schedule on the brides. A gift went missing and Sherra coincidentally found the bag for it empty in a place we had already looked. And they overcharged me almost $200. Don’t stay here, especially if Sherra is employed still. Additionally on the day we were leaving the housekeeping was hounding us and being extremely rude trying to get us to leave faster even though our checkout wasn’t for another 3 hours. The only positive was the front desk employees They were extremely nice during the stay

Beautiful View, Terrible Stay -Beware of Bed bugs Chose this hotel mainly for their outdoor activities which did not disappoint. We did the Alpine Slide, Eagle zip-line, River cruise & lift chairs which were all 10/10. The views are SPECTACULAR!!! Restaurant food was good not amazing and service was great. The rooms and the hotel itself needs a huge renovation!!! From the moment you walk in you get greeted with this strong vintage smell. Hotel seems that is has not been updated/renovated since the 70’s or 80’s. Rooms are not cheap and they do not provide housekeeping service unless you request it (Front Desk failed to provide this information) My Family and I ended up with bed bug bites!! We had 2 rooms and 5 people out of 10 of us ended up with bed bug bites. This was a one timer visit NOT future visit at this resort.

Visit for Restaurant and Rides But Don't Stay Here I'll start with the "Pro's". The location is beautiful and not too far of a drive from Galena and a few wineries. The views are spectacular (especially from the restaurant/patio). The zipline ride and alpine slide were super fun. Didn't do the boat ride because it was cancelled due to high water. The food at the restaurant was top notch - broiled shrimp dinner, walleye strips, spicy chicken salad wrap, burger to name a few were all good. "Con's". Overall the hotel needs a good refresh/update. Looks like it hasn't seen much change since the 80's/90's. Carpet in hallways is worn; lobby is bare and uninviting; walls, doors, door frames are pretty beat up. There is no elevator so if you're on the fourth floor like we were, take that into account. The pool was okay but the whirlpool was stained and the water level so low, the jets were shooting out above the water line. We didn't use either. No mattress or pillow protectors which is pretty gross. The room was small . . . I mean SMALL as was the bathroom (no sink cabinet just a small shelf for two people to put their things on). It was 'clean enough' but just the overall 'feel' was not that clean. Carpet was old and worn and the TV appeared to be about 10 years old. Didn't even have 'stereo' just mono and was hard to hear. Picture was awful . . . not HD and while I'm not a big TV watcher, you really couldn't enjoy watching anything because it was so fuzzy. Final Take: Go there for dinner, the alpine slide or zipline ride but no reason to stay there with so many better options available.

Excellent experience It was a spectacular experience. The remote location was perfect to disconnect from the everyday routine. Yet Downtown Galena and other worthwhile towns are still in close proximity. The views and sunset were outstanding. The summer activities are great. The staff were very accommodating! The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Highly recommend it!
