Best place to stay in Galveston Hands down the best place we could have picked for our stay in Galveston. We don’t love Texas beaches but I have to say this place easily made up for it! VERY CLEAN condo (503) and the facilities seem to be adequately maintained as well. I do agree that overall there is a bit of aging but thats to be expected and nothing took us by surprise…and again, it was all very clean! It’s located further down the island so it’s much quieter but still within close proximity to anything you need and other area attractions. It’s also beachfront so there’s no busy street to cross and the beach is immaculately maintained, which is what we were looking for. We will definitely be back!

Good place, but needs one more thing We’ve stayed here a few times as a multi-generational family. We’ve always rented a 3 bedroom, and have had good experiences each time. The best part about the place is the beach is accessible without crossing Seawall Blvd. I’ve only given 4 stars because I’d like to see more food and drink options besides vending machines. A cafe or bar would be a great addition! Something like that could easily be placed in the covered area by the pool.

Disappointed with new management We have been coming to the Galvestonian for over 30 years, first as a young couple and then with our grown children and grandchildren. This past visit was a real disappointment. We rented 2 separate condos (spent over $5k) and the rooms were very nice. A small overlooked maintenance issue with the one bedroom…upon arrival, the window shade in the living room was broken so it remained in the closed position until we were able to manually roll it up, with the help of the very prompt maintenance worker. The worker stated since the shades were under warranty, he was unable to fix it!? Our kids and grandchildren stayed in the beautiful 3 bedroom condo. The second morning we noticed the a/c was struggling to keep cool (72*). A maintenance worker came to the room and stated our a/c was leaking water to the unit below and we would have to turn it off until it could be repaired. Although fans were offered, we were without a/c for a full 24 hours, into the next morning! No discount offered, no contact from management, even though we contacted them several times, in several ways! At checkout we were told by the front desk, the note on our account said there would be no compensation for being without a/c for 24 hours! Unacceptable! Previous management would have given something as compensation for such inconvenience. Several times during our 5 day stay, we had to have our room keys “rekeyed” because they wouldn’t work for the elevators or our rooms. Umbrella and chair rental has always been a hassle…forgotten days for setups, lost reservation, etc. Also, chairs are picked up at 5:00pm now under new management! At 5:00pm in the summer, we still have at least 2 hours of beach time! No shade after 5:00pm. Any contact from management would have gone a long way in helping with the problems we experienced.

Galveston Seawall Family Vaca We stayed in a B&B in the Seawall area. Walkable beach and promenade kept clean with public bathrooms avail, restaurants and shops nearby. Our dog was welcome on the beach but no where else. Parking beachside was tough, so we were glad we stayed close enough to walk. The ocean was not that turquoise sparkly blue that you expect at the golf, it was gray and blustery, even though it was hot and sunny. We loved the nearby museums, (see my reviews), and the free ferry at Port Bolivar. We also did a $10/pp dolphin tour of the harbor which was wonderful. We loved the restaurant variety, look for my reviews of those.

Bring back the coffee! We’ve been coming to The Galvestonian for 1-2 times a summer for the last 7 years. It’s the best place to stay on the beach without spending an arm and a leg. It’s clean, well maintained, and it’s still close to all the fun stuff in Galveston. My only gripe is that during our latest stay they seem to be sliding a bit on the service. When we arrived to our room we found it hadn’t been cleaned yet, but they sent someone immediately and within an hour we were good to go. By the way, if you book via external services for private condo units (not part of hotel), then you should know the unit owners control the work orders for cleaning. If you have an issue you have to contact them as the front desk folks can only do so much. Luckily the cleaning staff just missed it, no big deal. Anyways, as someone who travels for a living (pre COVID that is), you become accustomed to creature comforts at hotels. Breakfast, coffee, etc. The Galvestonian used to always have great coffee at 6am along with a smattering of muffins, donut holes, bananas, or other small items you could stuff into a plastic bowl and carry up to the room. They couldn’t do food during COVID but now (June ‘21) with the new ownership they did away with the coffee too. I know, I know, it seems petty to dock a star in the review for this, but I just can’t help but feel these small things give you connection during your experience. Now we have to bring coffee or drive down to Starbucks or McDonalds (yuck). So yeah, 4/5 stars y’all. Bring back the coffee and donut holes :) Some tips for this place: - If you want to reserve some chairs and umbrella on the beach you better call days in advance of your stay. They get booked up quick and by the time you check in you’ll have to be put on a waitlist. - Bring your own coffee. - Sunflower Bakery Cafe - just Google it and enjoy.
