Awsome What great staff and amazing place to stay in gettysburg. Staff was amazing I would recommend this place to anyone. Every lodge cabin has a different feel and has gettysburg history for the state its named after. Staff solved a problem created by a 3rd party when they didn't have too. What a great staff.

Convenient to the Battlefield We reserved the lieutenants lodge but when we arrived we were informed someone had smoked in it so we received an upgrade to the general's lodge. We were told the fine for smoking was 1000. I appreciate their honesty and integrity for doing this. We have not always received that type of respect at other hotels. The room was great and we enjoyed having the better kitchen area for eating. The location is convenient to the Battlefield and Eisenhower home and not that far from town. If we were to go back we would stay here again. Having the restaurant there made it nice for getting some food after a long day.

Mothers Day Buffet special event We came only to dine for Mothers Day. The venue is gorgeous and if I was planning an event this would be at the top of the list. They do several seatings and all people come at the same times. Seating moved swiftly. The staff worked the event but weren't as attentive to the actual guests. What I mean is that staff was friendly and continually working to clear dishes and maintain the buffet but there was almost no communication. We were seated and the server finally came by to ask about drinks but never told us about anything. For example "the appetizers are there, the desserts are over there, we have a bar available". So after she left and we got up to go to the buffet line and I saw several stations through the crowd I stopped a server to ask what was going on. They had a Brie en Crute and a crab dip that were both good but the sliced crostini they had out for it was so hard no one could break it with their teeth. I went to the other side of the room for bread to eat with the cheese. The buffet line was in the middle of the room and the line was doubled and moved quickly. The beef tenderloin was wonderful. They also had salmon, chicken roulades, vegetable lasagna, and a seafood Alfredo. The food was good. The salads at the salad station all looked great and fresh. For desserts they had a decent selection that would appease everyone. If I was going to have my wedding here I would ask the dishes to be washed twice. All the water glasses were very spotty and the plates at the buffet did not feel clean. Maybe their dishwasher needs a filter replaced or something. I will absolutely return to stay in a lodge and to dine in the restaurant on a regular day to see how the food is off the actual menu not buffet service.

Great location and accomodations Just spent a few nights in the Mississippi Lodge! 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms! These cottages are so well maintained and clean. Lots of room for everybody to be comfortable. The staff are very friendly and efficient. (Xander and Nona). I got there and was able to upgrade to the bigger cottage which our 18 year old son really appreciated! It is close to town but away from all the chaos! Didn't get to experience their bar/grill since we were there Monday/Tuesday nights. Beautiful grounds to explore. Maybe some day they may add some things like inground pool/hot tubs for use? I would definitely recommend them to my family/friends. and I hope to come back and visit!
