This is what happens when corners are cut_ First night back at a place my wife and I spent several big anniversaries in the past. So excited to arrive for our 34th anniversary. Disappointing is a word I never thought I’d use for the Gaige House based on our past 3-4 stays. Mildew in the shower, a gift of a cheap Spanish cava priced at $8.99 (I know I shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth), spa covered in leaves and pine needles (had to scoop out by hand because the skimmer tool was filthy. Pool was the same - like it hadn’t been cleaned in days. Cheap robes/slippers that an upscale Super 8 might offer. Reception cheese/wine was good (not great) and the room quite basic. I hope the breakfast is top notch like it’s been in the past. But already we’ve decided we’re not coming back. Sadly, a Holiday Inn or Hampton would be a better value - and cleaner. Four Sisters is the current owner) and needs to invest to get this place back to a gorgeous Sonoma/Glenn Ellen destination.

Underwhelming This is a really beautiful hotel on a unique property. But, given the price, it needs quite a bit of TLC. Truly, I hope they listen to the feedback here. I think the age and underinvestment in the hotel is hidden behind the gorgeous Ryokan rooms, cute wine and cheese hour, and gorgeous common areas. But I felt that my experience just fell short of my expectations. I stayed in the Gaige House Suite. What I loved: - Even though our room was in the main house, it was very spacious and quiet - We loved our private patio and fire pit. Great for stargazing and bird watching - The fireplace in the room was cozy, we put it on in the mornings - Huge, spacious bathroom with shower and tub What I didn’t love: - Breakfast is painfully mediocre - Pool doesn’t seem to get cleaned as frequently as it should with the foliage and bugs falling in - Super limited room service menu - The cabanas at the pool were also dirty and uninviting. Lots of bugs - TV only offered cable - Our bathroom was stinky, maybe a standing water issue, but 100% there is no way housekeeping cleaned the bathroom prior to our check-in and didn’t notice they odor. It was strong - The room was dusty and dated, needed a deep clean (especially around the windows) For the price and advertised experience, you expect a certain level of detail to be considered. With a small, quaint inn like this, you have an opportunity to add those personal touches that make the guest feel really cared for. And I don’t mean cookies out on the hallway table, I mean a chilled bottle of wine and a hand written note in your room when you check in, or breakfast that showcases local organic fruit, home made bread, and local eggs with a handwritten daily menu.

Expected a bit more... Lovely property but seemed as if it might have lost some of attention to detail and service that must have been present in years past. Grounds needs to be cleaned up a bit, insufficient lighting in the room, breakfast quite lacking (limited choices/variety, grocery store breads from plastic bag, toaster didn't work). Had been on my wish list for years and left disappointed.

Romantic Getaway Went with my husband to celebrate our anniversary -- it was incredible! Enormous room that was more like a private cabin, with a small courtyard, luxurious bath/shower, private backyard, plenty of closet space and of course a magnificent king-sized bed. Very clean and comfortable. Conveniently located to plenty of wineries, but we actually spent all our time at the House -- lounging by the pool, soaking n the hot tub or just relaxing on the property. Delicious breakfast and complimentary wine and cheese in the early evening. Staff was friendly and helpful. A perfect way to relax and celebrate a milestone in our lives!

Great Boutique Hotel This is not a big box hotel, but a GREAT boutique hotel. Walking distance to town, very friendly and helpful staff, updated rooms, good breakfast, etc. We enjoyed happy hour and the fresh baked cookies every day. I recommend you try this hotel; you won't be disappointed!
