Not a typical Renaissance experience This is a tough hotel to review, mostly because a couple bad things outweigh many good things. Pros - Got free upgrade to a large 2 room suite with our Platinum status - As per usual, the Marriott personnel were great - Great amenities in the common areas - Good breakfast food at Soleil - Close access to shopping, dining and sports Cons - Room A/C didn't cool enough during the July heat leaving us sleepless each night - Hotel is looking tired. Some upgrades are needed - Lots of small hard shelled bugs mostly in the bathroom - Getting towels was a chore much less maid service As of now, we can't recommend staying here during our hot summers until cooling issues are addressed. Edit: The Renaissance did call someone to deal with our bug issue

Do you like bugs??? We stayed for 3 nights for a family trip. We were very excited to try this hotel considering the Renaissance Hotel reputation, but unfortunately we’re very disappointed. The morning after the first night, we woke up to tons of carpet beetles all over the floor and our belongings. This was not a few bugs - we stopped counting after we killed 25 of them. We called the front desk and said we needed a new room and they gave us one. It took us 2.5 hours to move our stuff and shake out all our belongings. The next morning we had more of these carpet beetles in our new room - we killed 10 and found multiple in the hallway on our floor on our way down to show the manager. Beware of the bugs on floor 2!!!! When I was considering just leaving all together, we were told they would adjust our room rates to a discounted rate for our troubles and include free breakfast. Well, we only received breakfast for 1 day and upon checkout out, I realized they only discounted one day. Very disappointing considering I had to deal with bugs every day of my stay. No one want to pay $180/day for a hotel room with carpet beetles! In addition, someone urinated in the pool shower and even though I notified their employee about it, it was not cleaned the entire 1.5 hrs we were at the pool. Needless to say, I don’t think we will be back.

Oldie But Goodie We liked our stay here. Its an older property but well maintained, great staff, all the amenities and perfect location... love the proximity to the Stadium and the Restaurant Area next door. Beds comfortable, valet parking, great pool, health club, lobby. It's ideal for groups.

Front Desk personnel not so great and billing errors I am a Platinum Elite member and have been for over 20 years. I have to say the check in with the front desk clerk was one of the worst experiences I have had so far. She never acknowledged my status, I had to ask for breakfast vouchers and she made it very difficult to combine two reservations forcing me to check back in with desk again the next morning. I will say they have me a very nice room (upgrade) and I very much appreciated that. The other issue was after checking out I received a different bill through e-mail what charged me for an extra night that I did not stay. I had to call accounting and then talk to a front desk manager. They admitted they made a mistake and I would have to wait for a credit which will take days/weeks for an incorrect billing my this hotel.

Spring baseball Great trip...hotel is a little dated, but overall great location (right next to Gila River Arena where the Coyotes play hockey) and super close to the Spring Training sites. Couple of tips: 1- renting a car at Sky Harbor is crazy and expensive. I had free days but it would have cost $500 for the weekend. And there was a line of 400 people for shuttle buses. We eventually took an Uber to the rental car facility...we waited for a while but should have done this earlier. 2- There is no cost to park at Dodger Baseball Camelback Ranch. If you have a rental car, just drive and park there. If not, ride share works fine too. 3- Lobby bar, Pool and food amenities were Great!
