I was disappointed Since this year we couldn’t afford a vacation we decided to do a staycation. Finances are tough so we only booked two nights. Of course we could’ve booked five nights at nearby hotel with what we paid here but we expected super nice for the $$. For the amount of money paid I really expected top notch everything. Facilities are top-notch and the staff and service too. But I was immensely disappointed how unkept some areas were. There is no better explanation that the pictures that I am posting. Broken sun bathing chairs at the pool. Super nasty dirty pool deck. It takes forever for employees to notice and pick up trash from the ground. Parking garage elevator feels like a New York subway elevator (see photo). It was a busy weekend. The place was packed. They made me throw away some chips and water bottles that I had in my bag before I could enter the waterpark. Again there’s a lot of great things about this place, yet I couldn’t help but notice so many areas where they dropped the ball. I do feel disappointed because I spent some hard earned top dollar.

Girls trip Paradise Springs was overcrowded by 10:30 am and we left! It was like a land rush when they opened the gates at 9:00 and everyone went for the free-non reserved chairs. It’s very small for the amount of people allowed in. You are elbow to elbow the entire time you are on the lazy river. Lockers are $10. Chicken strips $15. We went back to the outdoor pool at the main resort. The water was completely cloudy and there were no chairs or anywhere to put your stuff. We went off property to Main Street Grapevine a couple miles away. HIGHLY RECOMMEND as there are lots of restaurants and shops. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but we were wanting to spend more time at the water park. It truly needs to be a lot bigger to accommodate the amount of people. The Cirque show was great and a very good deal!!

“Meh” This review is written at the start of the delta variant surge when businesses have opened up, pandemic fatigue has set in, labor shortage has affected all businesses and most Texans appear to have burned their masks. With that perspective in mind…. Here is the good and the bad about the Gaylord. The bad…. 1. Hotel is definitely outdated. We stayed here over 10 years ago and it looks the same. 2. Garbage bins around the hotel and parking area were overflowing with trash: 3. Staff seems new and overwhelmed. It was hard to call someone to bring shampoo to the room. Nobody answers the phone and when they did I was disconnected two times. Overall they were polite but just seemed a bit disinterested. 4. Hairs in the bath tub from a previous guest…. (Gross) 5. My nine year old daughter said the outdoor pool was “foggy.” I interpret this to mean that the water is not clean. 6. Self parking is far away from the main entrance and costs $22 to park in the middle of Nowhere. 7. Bath shower had great pressure but the water doesn’t drain well so you are standing in water that is above your ankles. The good… 1. Food quality was ok and the prices were reasonable. I recommend getting the kids meals. The fruit was fresh and plentiful. We ate at the Paradise Springs grill and the Texan place. 2. The outdoor water park was good. It wasn’t too big and wasn’t too small. There were a few water slides and the lazy River was good. It seems to be good for kids 12 and under. My advice is to get there early- like 9am. By noon the place is pretty crowded. 3. Look for package deals. We got a deal online that included a $50 resort credit, free parking ($22) and free tumbler ($21) that has unlimited refills. 4. Staff and service at Paradise Springs seemed better than at the hotel. This is a nice place for a quick staycation if you don’t mind crowds. If you want a more socially distant experience with better service in the DFW area and can spend three times the cost as the Gaylord, I recommend checking out Rough Creek Lodge.

Stayed for my birthday last night I just wanted to review the staff. They were all such friendly and professional people. When I woke up this morning I found a note under my door written by the wonderful ladies at the front desk. This shows that they go above and beyond!

Nice staycation We usually do a one night staycation at the Gaylord every summer with our kids. We arrive early on Saturday morning to enjoy the waterpark all day and then have dinner/enjoy the hotel at nightime. Another great trip this year. We reserved seats at Paradise Springs, annoying to pay $25/chair but we hate the "hunt" and it's nice to have a spot. Decent umbrella coverage in the reserved areas as well. Everyone we encountered at the hotel was pleasant and displayed a true eagerness to be helpful. Service was slow at the sports bar but we have come to expect all restaurant service to be slow during covid times/staffing shortage. Our waitress was doing her very best. Although the prices for food/drinks is "resort" pricey, we always find the food and drinks to be good. We will be back again next summer.
