Disappointed with no lake view Rooms were clean and updated but very dark. Staff was excellent. We selected a lakes room on the first floor. Paid a premium for it. We’re very disappointed that here was no lake view. Trees had been allowed to grow up well past the first floor even impeding views on the second. No where in the website was this mentioned. Every room showed a beautiful lake view. VERY MISLEADING AT BEST.

FOOLED BYMARKETING, DON'T YOU rooms tired ,chipped, one restaurant not usable because of wet ,slippery wooden stairs. stranded in lobby for 25 min as elevator was "down again", it happens often. no free drink, no comp, no apology, duty manager was curt and impolite, his elavator did not work but i was a imposition. food in rest was not great chick fingers overdone, fish and chips smelled too fishy, all for $60 +. really , it is true ,one option for food, they know they have you unless you drive into Gravenhurst, so it shows front desk was unmanned more than half the times i was there. one middle aged lady on fronk desk with short hair was super professional and helped me with some things. DO NOT GO IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY PROBLEMS staff park golf carts at reception all day but never to offer to guests. My suprise 35 th annivers for my wife was a fail. SO TABOO GETS BIG FAIL , YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU GO.

Weekend getaway to Muskoka and meeting with family: Taboo Resort is beautiful and relaxing place on the clean lake with lots of activities. great accommodations, clean and well-maintained facilities and play ground, etc. Elegantly renovated and spacious guest rooms and suites. Management and resort team member were all friendly and always trying to accommodate us and other guests. Beautiful sunsets and a lovely, relaxing place to spend with family or loved ones. We would return and highly recommended. Thank you, Lorie and crew, for welcome package! With kind regards and Skal: Frank and Sonia

Beautiful weekend trip with family Our second year here staying at the hotel. Beautiful place right on the clean lake with lots of activities -well maintained tennis courts, pickel ball, bikes included, heated pools, ping pong, darts, play ground, kayak, canoes, stand up paddle boards etc -Hotel rooms are renovated and clean -Did not seem too busy or over crowded around the resort which was nice ..maybe because it's the end of Aug? -Staff were all friendly and always trying to accommodate -We ordered some food in instead of eating at the Boathouse restaurant which worked out fine. -Used the gym once and although a bit small, it was clean with good selection of equipment, weights and some treadmills/ellipticals -Beautiful sunsets and a lovely, relaxing place to spend with family or loved ones. We would return!

Overall good experience despite some shortcomings. We enjoyed our stay with our family of 11 despite a disappointing check-in experience. We had booked 3 upper level lakeview rooms in mid-February and while we were told we may not get 3 rooms all together, we were led to believe that they would all be as close together as possible implying at least on the same floor. At check-in we found that one of the rooms was on a different floor and the resort didn't seem to want to help us out stating that there was nothing they could do. In reality it was more that there was nothing they would do. The rooms were modern and bright and had great views of the lake and provided stunning sunsets. There were lots of activities for all 3 generations in our family and these activities helped make up for the check-in disappointment. There is only one dining choice so in order to get more options and greater variety we had to go off-site but the town of Gravenhurst is only about 10 minutes away. The resort advertised free morning coffee from 7-11am. It was hit or miss whether the coffee arrived at 7 or as late as 7:30 one morning. A small thing admittedly but something that should be consistent at a premier resort. With so many resorts in Muskoka that have become tired and dated this resort is a welcome alternative. However certainly not for those on a tight budget.
