Avoid at all costs Mosquitos in the room. Blood on the sheets. No working sink No working hair dryer No working patio door Power went out. Avoid at all costs. I can’t believe a hotel with that much mold in the room can legally operate.

Dated Guadalajara Gem Large, comfortable room, several dead cockroaches in room. Front desk never picked up phone, otherwise great customer service from all staff I encountered. Hotel grounds are very beautiful. Dated property but kept up very well. Great location and everyone very helpful. They say a 5-Star hotel, I say at most a 4-Star. Very reasonably priced; our average was $65 a night for a huge room with 2 double beds. 2 adults and 2 kids, but we kept getting only 2 bath towels everyday. Restaurant was tasty and bar was inviting.

Low rise hotel- central location We returned to the Hotel Camino Real Guadalajara after a long absence due to the pandemic. Covid took a toll on the hotel. Restaurant Maria Bonita - named after the star of Mexican cinema Maria Felix - remains open but without its extensive tequila menu or signature dishes. Still, the kitchen made a good showing with excellent pozole and chicken chalupas, followed by a fine Orgullo añejo tequila. This came at a very reasonable price. Other guests wrote bad reviews about their stay. It seems they felt unsatisfied by their room. I think it’s a good idea to ask to see your assigned room - if it’s not to your liking ask to see another. After rejecting our assigned room- a little musty smelling- we selected a spacious room with a large private patio overlooking the hotel’s lovely grounds. As others noted, the hotel covers several manicured acres and includes a number of separate buildings one or two stories tall. The first floor rooms feature a large private patio - the upper floor offers a smaller private balcony. The hotel architecture exemplifies mid-century design- it opened in 1958. We enjoyed seeing the outdoors - mature trees and many songbirds. It’s definitely not an enclosed high rise hotel experience. We parked our car on the hotel grounds after the busman brought our luggage to the room. A staff member raised the boom blocking the parking entrance which provides extra security, and we walked across the grounds to our room. We passed several pools but these look like water features and not for swimming. The hotel is centrally located in cosmopolitan Guadalajara. Traffic at the morning and evening rush hours can try your patience so go out at a different time of day. The city is dynamic and Mexican culture abounds. Large tree lined boulevards pass gorgeous fountains and sculptures depicting greatness. It’s inspiring! Other guests mentioned the buffet breakfast at La Huerta. It offers Mexican breakfast dishes, fresh fruit, dairy items, and an omelette station - which also will make small quesadillas on homemade tortillas. Try the squash blossom quesadilla- different! We booked through the hotel’s website and included breakfast for two. Compared to what other hotels charge, Camino Real Guadalajara offers an exceptional value. We look forward to returning to it again.

Dirty hotel with rude reception The hotel was old, dirty, and shabby. The buffet breakfast was wonderful. The people at the reception were rude and ineffective. The bell staff was excellent. My mother found a hair in her bed. The bathrooms were grimy, including the toilets. The air conditioning was broken in both rooms. Both rooms were dark and dreary. Our family prepaid for four nights, but we left for another hotel after only two nights. We were unable to receive any refund for the remaining prepaid nights OR any apologies. Overall, one of the worst hotel experiences my family has ever had. I would not recommend this place, even for the most budget conscious traveler.

Terrible service at the reception and the bathrooms at the lobby were very dirty Because it is a Camino Real Hotel I was expecting at least a descent service at the reception, but it was terrible I need to name the person in order to ask the hotel to do something about it. We were “received” by a lady called Rocio, she looked angry and acted like she hated her job. She answered very rude and did not help us at all. I waited and saw that someone else arrived, this other lady name was Alejandra and she was great, looking for help, answering with good attitude, etc. Thank you for saving the day I really ask the hotel to take a look to the reception personnel, is the first impression that you get when you arrived and it was terrible. The bathrooms in the lobby were very Dirty and broken… I’
