LUXURIOUS STAY Since it was our belated 47th Anniversary celebration, we decide to stay local and headed for the Half Moon Bay. The service is excellent from the very beginning. From curbside where the bellhop taking care of our baggage to the front desk handling our registration checkin, everyone had a smile and professional attitude. We had booked a Deluxe Room 1 King - the standard room for the hotel which overlooks the main drive entrance. Upon checking in, we were offered a Coastal View Room 1 King for $60 upgrade with a view of the golf course and coast. We took it. Complimentary glass of rosé wine was offered after completing registration. We had checked in at 2:00pm; however, the room was not ready, but we received a telephone call at 3:05pm advising us that our room was ready. At 3:30pm we received a text message on the Marriott app that our room was ready. Room #535 has a wonderful view of both the 18th hole of the Ocean Golf Course and the Pacific Ocean. The room was spacious and comfortable. The king size bed welcomed us with the choice of pillows from softness to firmness and soft bed sheets waited to be touch. The bathroom is large with a wonderful soaking tub, walk-in shower, separate room for the toilet. There were lots of towels everywhere. There were plenty of electrical outlets. The AC plugs were located 2 above the countertop under the mounted TV screen, 2 at the desk, and 2 on the side of the both night stands. My brother and his family joined us in the celebration. Their room was Room #409 (Ocean View Fireplace Room 1 King) overlooking the Ocean Terrance two stories below and a glorious view of the Pacific Ocean. His room had a fireplace. Fire Pits: There are fire pits located throughout the outdoor terrace as well as in the private patio for ground level rooms. They sell kits with marshmallows, skews, and Graham’s crackers. If you are staying for several nights, it best to bring your own box of crackers, bag of marshmallows, & skewers. Bagpipe Player: One hour before sunset the bagpiper in full regalia outfit starting at the front of the main entrance played the bagpipes and walked around the perimeter of the hotel ending at the outdoor terrace. There he continued to entertain the crowd with his solo performance. Business Center: There were 2 desktop computers for printing boarding passes. The ATM is located here in the business center. Fitness Center: The men’s sauna room has seating capacity for 8 comfortably. The swimming pool has 10’ depth at the deep end & 3’6” depth at the shallow end. There are 2 hot tubs. Next time I want a local and relaxing vacation, I am going to LUXURIOUS STAY ... at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Half Moon Bay. COVID Practices: All the staff (valet, front desk, dining room wait staff, housekeeping, maintenance, & outdoor gardeners) worn their face mask. There were hand sanitizers at all the elevator floors, outdoor the main hotel entrance, inside all entrances, and dining room entrances. While I was visiting my brother’s room mid-morning and looking out the window admiring the ocean view, I saw the housekeeping staff cleaning and wiping down the inside windows of the vacated room in the next wing. They did a very thorough job.

Beautiful location - terrible service This was our last stop on a 5 day anniversary trip and our biggest splurge. The location is amazing however the service was TERRIBLE. Firstly the bar around the only outdoor sitting area was closed (the one the overlooked the water and coastline around the fire pits) and my husband had to walk all the way to the golf course bar for us to enjoy a wine whilst watching the view. Then when we came back to watch sunset all the tables had disgusting bottles, glasses and empty food packets everywhere - hadn’t been cleaned for 4 hours!! There was only 1 place open for the entire hotel to get their pre sunset drinks and it look at least 30 mins to be served. There was no outdoor service or amenities which is what I would expect when paying 5 star prices!!! Service in restaurant was very average and disorganized. Lastly - when we checked out they charged a $54 m fee just to park our car - ridiculous considering we already paid expensive resort fees and it wasn’t like they were short on space for parking. Overall - if this is your splurge then don’t! We stayed in 3 other places that were cheaper and much better than this hotel.

Ruined activities, birthday let down I’m here for my 50th birthday and I’m so disappointed. This is not a 5 star hotel. The service is incompetent! The front desk person insisted on calling me transportation to downtown Half Moon Bay for a yoga class only to arrange it to arrive at the wrong time. I missed my class and my entire morning was derailed. Because she insisted the hotel “help” me. Thanks for nothing. My massage for my birthday was cancelled because the masseuse has an emergency. I wish I was joking. One missing employee shut down the whole thing. Unreal. Do not waste your grand a night. Just don’t.

Fantastic Stay all around This is one of the most beautiful properties. Fantastic stay and should have stayed longer. The staff was great from the bellman to the front desk to the restaurant/bar. I stayed a while back and had an AC issue, but my room this time seemed updated and was perfect. Dinner in the bar area was excellent and great wine list. Will definitely be be back
