Hotel Hermosa

Super noisy room and very shady business practices We've stayed before and had good experiences. I think the ownership changed or at least I hope that's why our recent stay was aweful. I had listed preferences of quiet room away from vending machines. Khaled the front desk clerk assigned us to a room next to housekeeping. I went back to front desk and shared that I had listed preferences and he said being next to housekeeping wouldn't be loud and they don't start until 9AM. Upon entering the room we noticed the interior of the room was the same as it has been for over 7 years. It needs a refresh for sure. Also noticed gum wrapper on floor by couch. In addition you could hear what kids in room above running around. We went to beach and dinner. Returned and kids above us were just as crazy. We tried to chill, watched TV, and eventually tried to sleep. At 1130pm I called front desk and it helped as the room above us did quiet down until 330am and then more of the same. The next morning I called down to front desk and advised we were checking out. The clerk said they would charge me for the 2nd planned night since I didn't provide 24hrs notice. I read the cancellation notice that is posted on the hotel website to her - which states 24 hour notice is required prior to ARRIVAL - and explained we had 'arrived', checked in, and stayed the night. She said it is their policy. I asked for a manager. She said they were all at a meeting. I said to have someone call me when done. The same front desk clerk called me and said she spoke to her manager and they would make an exception. The place is NOT what it used to be and their business practices are VERY shady.

Worst hotel in Los Angeles You can do better sleeping out in the park. There are no stars or points to give! Staff was rude, manager lied to us and then ripped us off.

Prefect for our needs. As a family of 4 from the UK (kids 10 and 14) this was a perfect hotel for us. The Hermosa beach area is lovely with a nice beach and restaurants. Takes about 20-30 minutes to walk down to the beach area but quite a walk back up hill! There is a macdonalds, lazy acres and 7 eleven just over the road, which was really convenient. Parking was under the hotel and was better than expected, we managed to find a space even when we returned quite late. Pool area small but perfect for the kids to cool off for the short time we actually spent at the hotel. A shame there is no bar. Staff were friendly and helpful but we had no problems that needed dealing with. The room was fine, clean, nicely decorated and a good size. The shower didn’t have great pressure and still dribbled from the tap when should have all come from the shower head. Provision of pool towels a great touch. The location of the hotel was perfect for the excursions we wanted to do. About an hour to universal, 40 mins to Santa Monica etc when travelling north and then 50 mins to Newport beach and just over an hour to Laguna South. Survived the driving! If you’re looking for a budget friendly, well located hotel in a safe and pleasant area that is probably the equivalent of a Holiday Inn Express at home, this is perfect. We had a great 4 night stay.

A family favorite! Our family has been staying here on vacations 1-3 times a year since 2020 and love it. The staff is always personable and always recognize us and greet us when we come in asking how we’ve been like an old friend. The hotel is clean and kept up. The location is great! Just a 5 minute drive from Hermosa pier or a 15 minute walk down to the strand. We get our groceries from Target just a 6 minute drive away or the Lazy Acres across the street. We frequent the Spyder Surf shop next door for the latest apparel and never leave town without grabbing a late night donut and hot chocolate at the donut shop across the street or grabbing a breakfast sandwich there before leaving town and eating it the hotel “backyard” while looking out at the ocean. I can’t say enough positive things about this place!!
