Sleep Inn

Wish I had seen pics before booking. After our first night in Room 309 we asked if Maintenance could fix our a/c. It cools the room but doesn't remove any humidity in a very humid climate. The carpet, linens, tissues, toilet paper, our clothing, and any other papers in the room were damp and clammy for an entire week. Our socks turned brown from the carpet. The second time we asked about this issue at the front desk they said they would locate a dehumidifier as maintenance wasn't able to fix the problem. That evening I was told "It's at another location". So basically they couldn't do anything about the issue. There were days where our wet towels were removed and weren't replaced. Trash was removed daily, but our bed wasn't made. The bathroom ceiling is starting to flake, the shower was nice but it has a leak, there's leftover masking tape behind the toilet from the last time it was painted, and broken and loose tile on the bathroom floor. For some reason someone left a used purple candle on the window sill that wasn't disposed of by housekeeping. The front desk and breakfast staff were very personable and friendly. It is unfortunate the front desk didn't have the necessary equipment available to fix the issues we had with our room. Breakfast included some sort of powdered egg like substance and decent sausage patties. There was also the usual make your own waffles, real butter (not margarine/butter mix stuff - so thankful for that!) Bananas, cereal, English muffins, toast, blueberry mini muffins, oatmeal packets, orange, cranberry and apple juices, milk tea (no honey) hot chocolate and coffee with half and half and French vanilla creamers. There is a Waffle House next door and the back side of a Ford dealership across the street. The parking lot has 24 hour video surveillance. We noticed many contractors stay here so there are a lot of dirty work boots walking down the halls and into the rooms which may be why our socks turned brown. Overall if you don't mind things a little grungy and have the mindset that this is only where you shower and sleep then maybe this is a great option when you need a hotel at a cheap price. Next time we'll stay elsewhere.

A very unfair and stupid policy at Sleep Inn in Hickory, N.C. Our son and fiance stayed at Sleep Inn in Hickory, N.C. 1/14/2024. / He was charged a $150.00 deposit because his drivers license address was at Lincolnton, N.C. Our son just moved to Sevierville, Tennessee recently and had not had a chance to change the address on his license yet. Sleep Inn said they charge this deposit to anyone living 50 miles or less from their hotel and would refund it within 7 days. Is this stupid ? None of our family will ever stay there again.

It's a place to lay your head, not paradise but better than some other places nearby The employees are nice and helpful. Location is good, close to the HWY, shopping and LR. The hotel is a bit dated but you get what you pay for. We have stayed here twice now... April '23 and August '23. This time the room was a bit rough. Could use a refresher, especially in the bathroom. There was missing caulking, peeling paint, etc. Breakfast is ok, wish there was some fruit available. They have your standard waffle maker, muffins, powdered eggs, etc. Nothing to write home about but at least they provide something.

stay somewhere else if you want peace and quiet. We are here right now. On the second floor room 236. below our room is a bunch of Mexicans BBQ steaks on a portable grill with a couple cases of beer at 9pm. the noise level keeps increasing and we had to shut our AC off because of something they are burning down there that smells like campfire. We have called down stairs 4 times and all we get from the front desk is that they are workers here and we’ll ask them to quiet down. Noise level increased as the beer consumption increased. called and asked for a different room they would not give. Said they didn’t have one, but the choice App shows one left. I asked for it, they refused. after getting quite angry with the front desk because they seemingly have no control over their property and won’t do anything about the garbage going on outside our room, the front desk lady had the nerve to tell me to have a good night. morons. I’d never stay here again. Apparently they think some guests are more important than others. This is a motel, not a damn campground.

Bad owner This hotel started out great & then the bed bugs appeared. We switched rooms, but guess what, bugs there too. We were paid up through Sunday & on Saturday we asked for a refund because of the bed bugs. The owner/manager said there were no bed bugs & refused to go in the room to look & didn’t allow the employees to go look. He told us to check out & go to another hotel. Wow, what great customer service!!! Be aware of this place, they have bed bugs!!!!!!
