HHI vacation at Marriott Barony Bay Great property. Staff was pleasant and helpful as always. 4 pools and beach front. A bit short staffed as garbage would back up . But great as always other than that. Bar and grille was nice. Event staff was great. I would strongly recommend Barony Beach Club for your HHI vacation.

Barony Beach late June 2021 Excellent comeback for HH Marriott’s Barony Beach Resort despite Covid the last year! We felt safe and hospitality was second to none. Only complaint would be that the cafe/bar could use some more variety including vegetarian-friendly (wraps, hummus, black-bean burgers, “impossible” cuisine, or various salads, etc.). Indoor pool was sidelined but hopefully they are working on an upgrade!! Bravo!!!

Nice place for a family vacation Wonderful on-beach location. Multiple pools. Very clean with great service. Rooms very nicely furnished with a full kitchen. You can rent beach chairs from the hotel, but they not have umbrellas. These can be rented on the beach for a substantial sum. If you have chairs and umbrellas bring them from home.

Don’t ask for Garden Buildings Weather was wonderful, however we were assigned to building 9100 even though we are Presidental level. LONG walk to beach for older people. Security is non existent. Never saw anyone walking around checking anything. Anyone can walk into property, no key check to use elevators or beach gates. In your room there was a safe. Used a key not a digital code. Chairs around pool at 9100-9200 are old hard plastic. VERY uncomfortable to sit. No bar/food service at the pool, had to walk over to Ocean pool to get anything. Please ask for Ocean buildings or you will be unhappy. Big difference in services.

MVC Member that has used this club exclusively for 20 years We have been coming to this resort for 20 years. In some ways it is still excellent. The grounds are in great shape and the rooms are well maintained. They should be well maintained given that I pay $1500 a year for maintenance. The redo of the resort three years ago was cheap and poorly designed. The rooms no longer have a south Carolina beach vacation feel. The couches they installed are wholesale pieces of junk. The foldout beds in our room were broken and I noted 3-4 other broken couches piled up down in the parking area of the garage. This is another thing we never used to see. We never saw junk lying around anywhere. This location is incredibly Covid-19 paranoid. Imagine disabling the ATM machine and not allowing owners to start the gas grills our selves because it was too risky. These people obviously know very little about virus transfer on sunlit surfaces out of doors. Absolutely no house keeping service would be provided even on request...say your kid pukes up on the couch. Good luck, because house keeping is not going to take care of it and there are no supplies in the rooms. Anyway, we are not anti-good caution about Covid-19 but their overkill had me pissed off before I ever even got to my room which is a bad way to start a vacation. Then the phone calls started trying to get me and my wife to go see a Marriott sales pitch. They lied and called it and informational update on my membership. To this I had to remind them that I am not a member of anything. I have a deed and pay taxes and maintenance on this specific property. I know because I get a receipt for taxes that I have written off my tax returns in previous years. Then I would get text reminding me to social distance several times per day. Enough already, I am not mentally challenged nor am I a child. In addition they seeming can't afford life guards to run the water slide all week, but they can afford security people to run around and harass everyone which was never there in my previous 19 years. Now I am sure this sounds like crying, but I hate the point system. It is only away to turn a resort that I purchased a week of occupancy in into a hotel which creates several problems. These resorts used to be more secure with absolutely everyone checking in and out on Saturday and Sunday. Now it is transient like a hotel with people coming in and out all week. A group of lawyers rented one villa a couple years ago for just a one night party for like 20 lawyers. This is not the same as it used to be. The management is heavy handed and does not treat owners like owners. There is a huge difference between being a guest at a hotel who can just be harangued for every infraction, and someone that owns and pays taxes as well as maintenance in addition to their purchase price. The actions of the staff here drastically reduced our the pleasure of our vacation. It has been sliding in experience ever since the vacation points system came into existence. Plus...be aware Marriott sales people lie through their teeth every day. All in all, the resort is in fact very nice. The beach is fantastic. Hilton head has great bike trails, golf, restaurants and shopping. My off resort experience was awesome as ever, but I found myself leaving for the beach early in the morning and not returning until it was time to hunker down in my room just so I could avoid the covid-19 Nazi's on their staff.
