Ilima Hotel

Great for friends who want their own rooms! If you want a 2 bedroom suite at an affordable price this is the hotel for you - it's an older style and a few details could do with updating (the aircon is noisy) but still a very comfortable stay. Our 2BR suite was excellent - very spacious living area, and having a microwave/cooktop/full fridge-freezer came in handy. The staff were lovely - I let them know we were arriving on an early flight and they had our room ready when we arrived. They were also available 24 hours for anything else we needed during our stay. This was my first time in Hawaii so I was a little concerned that we were "so far away from the beach" but that turned out to not be an issue at all. It's (at worst, if you catch all the red lights) a 10 minute walk from the main part of the beach, and you're really right in the middle of things - International Marketplace is a block away, there are multiple choices for quick takeaway food like ABC Stores, Waikiki Market etc just around the corner. If you're using public transport, there's a bus stop a block from the hotel that connects to most of the places you'd want to go. And let's not forget the hot pink and dark teal colour scheme - it's delightful. Who would want to stay in a hotel that has a beige-and-white colour scheme?

Very clean, very comfortable, very friendly Clean, very comfortable, extremely friendly staff, not part of a hotel chain so very competitive priced. Wonderful view overlooking the mountains and the golf course. Only one block from downtown Waikiki. 10 minute walk to the beach. Most of the buses stop one block away.

Everything you need for a great vacation This is one of my favourite hotels in recent memory. The rooms are huge and recently renovated with a vibrant/ mid century vibe. Housekeeping is amazing and have cleaned our room even when we didn’t expect them to as we left our room late in the day. The rooms are spotless. Every staff member we’ve encountered has been friendly and helpful. The kitchen is well stocked. Laundry room has multiple units for a very reasonable cost. Thoughtful things like a jug of cold water in fridge when we arrived and a laundry basket in the closet. The bathroom is dated but again spotless and well maintained and has plenty of space to put your things. I wouldn’t call this a fancy hotel but it’s so comfortable and clean and right in the middle of everything. Would 100% stay here again if lucky enough to return to Oahu.

Great value in central location We stayed 5 nights at Ilima Hotel after an absence of 15 years. Our room was available at 12 noon. We enjoyed the view of the golf course and the Ala Wai Canal, especially in the late afternoon when the outrigger canoes were racing on the canal. The room was large with a nice porch. There were ports for charging cell phones by the beds. The kitchenette included a refrigerator and freezer. The location was ideal for access to Beach Walk and Kalakaua Avenue. Housekeeping kept the room clean and tidy, cleaning right after we left at about 12 noon every day. The staff were all very pleasant and happy. The price was reasonable for Honolulu.

Great hotel. Amazing staff. Fantastic location We checked in to the Ilima at the very last minute as a condo we had booked elsewhere was unacceptable. The Ilima rescued our holiday - a clean kitchenette room in a great location. The staff are super friendly and I cannot praise them enough - each day they were happy and helpful
