Outstanding hotel on Waikiki Beach Pros: - Beautiful, historic hotel property - Direct access to Waikiki beach - Perfect location with many stores and food options - Incredible views from suite rooms - Well equipped gym Cons: - Long walk to parking garage - Very limited pool chairs - Long front desk lines - Limited elevators We stayed here for a week while on vacation in Honolulu. This is an iconic hotel on Waikiki Beach that was built in the early 1900’s. It has the modern standards of a Westin property, while maintaining the charm of a 100+ year old hotel. Our room (Tower Ocean Suite) was very spacious. It had one large balcony with an amazing view of the ocean, the beach and Diamond Head. There was also a smaller private balcony off of the bedroom. It was nice to have drinks on the balcony at night while listening to live music from the restaurants on the beach. The hotel restaurant is pricey, but there are tons of food options within walking distance. The parking deck for the hotel is at the Sheraton Princess hotel down the street, it’s a little bit of a hike and the garage does not have an elevator. The pool chair situation is pretty bad. You almost have to get there before sunrise to reserve a chair. The pool is somewhat small, so we just grabbed towels and went to the beach. Unfortunately the club lounge (Beach Club) is currently closed due to Covid. I stayed here when the club was open and it was very nice. Platinum guests are given breakfast vouchers at check-in. The front desk line situation is less than ideal, especially mid-afternoon around check-in time. The regular line is really long and it takes a long time to check in each guest. They also run a priority desk for platinum guests, which greatly helps. The hotel has a few issues that are mainly due to being such a busy hotel, but overall this is a outstanding property and one of the nicest hotels on Waikiki Beach. I would definitely stay here again.

Would not stay again Check-in was unreasonably long and incomplete; valet parking was full entire visit; never told upon check-in that we should be given a self—parking tag by front desk; not told we needed to opt in for daily housekeeping; elevator to our room on 6th floor was out of service and service elevator often not available; charged an activity fee per day for activities were all full/unavailable when we checked in; rooms were small and walls paper-thin - we could hear “everything” in room next to us. Pool is very small and good luck securing any chairs. Disappointed overall

Great Stay at the Moana Surfrider Just completed a terrific 4-night stay at the Moana Surfrider. Had previously been at the hotel in 2019 but was concerned a bit this time after hearing about the recent crowds throughout Hawaii. Based on our stay though, management has handled it well and we had a great experience. It started with check-in. We arrived at 4pm on a Sunday and check-in was a breeze. The reception desk was well staffed and it did take an extra couple of minutes for them to check that we had met the COVID vaccination/quarantine exemption requirements which was perfectly understandable and comforting in a way. They also welcomed us and acknowledged our Bonvoy status (Platinum Elite) and benefits which was a nice touch. We had a Tower Ocean Suite room which was spacious and had a great view. Housekeeping throughout our stay was excellent and it was easy to communicate requests and scheduling via the Marriott Bonvoy app. When we asked for sheets, blanket and a pillow so that my daughter could sleep on the sofa, they set it up nicely for her. We had to get up early to reserve a beach umbrella for the following day but that was no different than what it was in 2019. Yes, the Surfrider Cafe and the Veranda at the Beachhouse were busy in the mornings that we went but the staff was working hard and tried to take care of the customers as quickly as they could. The elevators also took a little longer than usual but not painfully so. It was a little disappointing that the Beach Club Lounge, which we had enjoyed very much at our last stay, was closed but understandable given the current environment. Check out was also easy with no wait and a friendly mahalo from the reception staff. Overall, would not hesitate to come back again to the Moana Surfrider.

Exceptional and Friendly, what a wonderful place to stay I simply could not have asked for more. This historic venue is visually stunning and located perfectly on Waikiki Beach, in the midst of all the hubbub. From the minute we alit from the taxi bringing us from the airport, we encountered only friendly, helpful and efficient staff— each individual took the time to make sure we were taken care of well. Polite, quick and friendly. I for one was extremely impressed and have nothing but high marks for all staff at this location, including those who weren’t necessarily employed by the hotel but staffed the stores in the lobby or the surf shop just on the beach. Our room was spacious and incredibly clean with a glorious large patio overlooking the beach and the ocean. Likewise the bathroom was well-maintained and included every accessory we may have needed. Two thumbs up for the heated toilet seat, a luxury we had not encountered in our travels but quickly got used to and honestly sincerely miss. Even with Covid restrictions at a high in Hawaii, the staff was ever present keeping things tidy. The dining options were open air, on the water with decent food at expected Oahu prices. There were complementary classes given by the hotel as part of the package although due to Covid concerns, attendance had to be severely limited – we were able to take hula classes and flower bracelet making classes to the delight of my daughter. There was live music in the lobby, an excellent piano player who sang, adding just the right touch to the elegant ambience floating through the place. For what we received during our stay I would have to say that the pricing was extremely competitive. Would go back to this location in a heartbeat

Gorgeous property! Stunning, elegant property! The rooms were beautiful, the staff was professional, helpful and welcoming. The Beach House restaurant was superb! We also had many lunches at the pool side out door area and all were so good. There is the most gorgeous Banyan tree that adds so much ambiance! We will definitely return!
