A nice stay near the beach. If you love being in a big city on the beach, it’s the perfect place for you. The view of the marina off the balcony was lovely. The walk to the beach is very beautiful and not too far. The food at the pool side restaurant was very good, but it was on the expensive side. The concierge had told us right away that they were remodeling the rooms. I think we had one of the new rooms. The only problem is if the batteries in the door lock stop working they don’t have a fast or quiet was too get your door open. On the first night, after we were in bed, we heard the loudest noise (what we thought was construction noise). So we called the front desk to ask what was going on. The room door across the hall, the lock, had stoped working and they were trying to get the door open. The maintenance people were working at it for roughly 30 minutes. Other than that it was a lovely stay.

Not Handicapped Legal Stay Awaway - Particularly if you have mobility issues or are in a wheelchair. Handicapped access is broken . Several items in room are partially or completely broken. Show handle came off in my hand. Chargers fall out of sockets. No vending machines or canteen on property. No room service either. All this exacerbated by a front desk staff who is not empowered to give even the most basic information about items in the room. Be sure to use a vpn when using internet, because no sign required- folks in the parking lot across the street could sign on to the holtel wifi. And all this for and additional $41@day resort fee which is NOT reflected in the daily price of any of the third party portals you’ll see on TripAdvisor.

Highly recommended modern hotel in a very good location !! We can highly recommend the Hotel Modern Honolulu, especially the rooms with sea views or harbor views. It is located at the beginning of Waikiki's hotel zone, right by the marina, surrounded by several restaurants and just a 3-minute walk from the beautiful beach. The rooms are very clean, spacious and modernly furnished with a refrigerator, coffee machine, microwave and very comfortable beds as well as a comfortable sofa. We had a large room with a balcony overlooking the marina, which we really liked. The bathroom has a good size with a large shower. The staff was very friendly and accommodating in all areas. The spacious pool area with 2 pools, 1 only for adults, invites you to linger with its comfortable large outdoor beds, a pool bar and a restaurant. The modern and open Ala Moana Shopping Center with 350 shops and 160 restaurants is a 10-minute walk away. There is also the Ala Moana Beach Park with a beautiful, gently sloping beach and calm water, which is highly recommended for families with children. Furthermore, the hotel offers a good and safe parking space in the underground car park, in which we were able to park our rental car after daily excursions on Oahu for $ 26 a day. Should this be occupied, there is another parking garage across the street that is connected to the Modern Honolulu by a pedestrian bridge and has acceptable parking fees compared to other parking options in Waikiki. We can highly recommend this modern hotel in a very good location, a few minutes' walk from the very lively center of Waikiki.

Choose any other Hilton property Wow, if you're a Hilton Diamonds member, I wouldn't recommend staying here. They clearly are not yet part of the Hilton family, regarding how they treat long time and heavily traveled members. It's very run down, the front desk people are rude and the resort fee is ridiculous, considering there is nothing here to do as it relates to a resort. No chance at an upgrade and no changes to their very late checkin (4 p.m.) and their very early (10 a.m.) check-out.

Terrible customer service We stayed at the Hilton Modern Honolulu for 8 nights in December. This was our 30 year anniversary and I was running the Honolulu Marathon. The positives were the room was clean and nice view. The restaurant bartender was great. The downsides far outweigh the positives. The concierge was terrible. He set us up with a "tour" of the hotel that would have a gift of dinner. This was not the case at all. This was a sales appt for a timeshare and we did not get any gift. The moment we told the finance guy we were not interested, he was rude and pretty much threw a tantrum. We were then asked to do a quick review with a supervisor, he was much nicer and we told them of the problems. The concierge also setup a tour for Pearl Harbor, that was to include lunch and it did not have lunch and took the whole day, we finally decided to uber back because we were starving and the only food options were snacks at the museum store. We overpaid for the tour, no meal, and out the uber ride. Finally last but not least my wallet was stolen from our hotel room. We spent our last day dealing with the hotel and Honolulu PD reporting the event. Had to get to airport extra early due to no ID. We missed out on snorkeling with Sea turtles on our last day. While the hotel has no control over theft, they have complete control over following up. It has been 3 weeks since this event and I waited to write a review, due to the holidays to give them extra time. No follow up. No credit on our stay, no Hilton points, no reimbursement for what was stolen. I'm completely disgusted, I will advise anyone to stay anywhere else. There is absolutely no customer service. I filled out the survey sent to us via email, so Hilton is well aware of the problem, not just the hotel staff.
