Insane amount of scroll kids and toddlers. Perfect for families. Holy Smokes... This is not a hotel for couples or anything remotely romantic. This is a resort for families with small children and screaming babies. We are in our late thirties, no children. I imagine If I had children, this would be my go to hotel. No joke. Honestly, I have never seen so many crib midgets in one place besides Disney Land. LOL. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm the one the booked it and the blame lies with me. On the other hand, this maybe the best hotel I have even seen that caters to families. The hotel staff are world class. They go above and beyond and are really professional. The private beach, food, and amenities (gym, pool etc) are excellent. The only negative besides the amount of screaming toddlers / babies had to be the prison mattresses beds and pillows. Anyone with shoulder issues or anyone that typically sleeps on a soft mattress better get ready to be in agony. With the profit margins at this hotel from sales, you may want to invest in better beds. For your elites at the very least. Enjoy!

From excellence to disappointment During my recent stay at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, I was disappointed by the noticeable decline in service and quality compared to a previous visit. Despite booking under Guest of Honor status, there was no welcome gift, no beverage offered, and we were denied a suite upgrade, despite availability. The hotel itself felt outdated, with a malfunctioning coffee machine, and the room was not clean, with hair in the bathtub. My first stay here was exceptional, but this experience fell short of the high standards I once associated with this property. I hope improvements are made soon.

Crowded and better for families with kids (not a couples' romantic destination) This property has a lot going for it, but probably has about 25% more rooms than it should for the available amenities. To be fair, our visit was during the higher summer peak season that straddled part of a weekend into the week, and the experience during midweek even in late July was markedly better than the weekend. The private beach which is a main marketing point for this property is much too small and crowded to actually feel like you are getting "exclusive" beach access. It's a relatively short stretch of sand, and the beach chairs are really crammed in there so there's barely space to flip over without brushing against your neighbor. There are also 4-5 large cabanas that are available for reservation (during our time it was around $800/day), which even if empty / not reserved, are not open to all. They are in the front location which means that actually about 1/3 of the beachfront space is not available to actually use. All chairs were filled by around 1030am daily, although later in the week you might be able to find a cluster of 2-3 chairs throughout the day. The pools and hot tubs were usually pretty full as well, throughout the day, although the last hour (9-10pm) hot tubs were slightly more accessible and pleasant to use. The resort does also offer a number of complimentary activities, including 1hr rental of stand-up paddle board or kayak (only 1 hr per person per day though), as well as a few other options on the resort side (archery, hatchet throwing, yoga, hikes). Some additional paid activities are also offered. We did the sunrise yoga on the beach and the archery lesson which were both satisfactory (similar to what other Hyatt resorts offer - Carmel Valley ranch comes to mind). Nighttime smore's was a fun activity, too. There are a number of options for food on site, although we only did some grab and go stuff from the cafe. Lines there in the morning were ridiculously long and we skipped coffee usually or used the in-room maker instead. In general walking through the property and trying to use its amenities, it just felt PACKED all the time. Certainly this is good for the hotel's bottom line, but for the guest experience, I'm not sure the value is there if you don't have a family with kids 12 and under who are going to get the most potential benefit from the activities and in that situation the adults are already going to be dealing with screaming children running around everywhere anyway. I think this hotel generally tries to market itself as a more luxury/relaxing type getaway, with its prices and advertised amenities -- but in reality it's a pricier "all-inclusive"-type family vacation spot.

Amazing family vacation This was our second year coming here during the summer and it won't be our last. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We lost a pair of shoes and they were in the lost and found and brought up to us. Our kids had hours of fun in the pools and hot tub and my husband and I enjoyed our drinks together. We walked the east tahoe trail from the hotel. We had the best time.
