Golf is amazing, location is amazing, everything else is disappointing Stayed at the Keltic Lodge for 4 nights for our honeymoon. Probably won’t ever be back :( Golf was amazing and the highlight of our trip <- if we are to return it would be for the golf. When we booked, we told the lady over the phone it was our honeymoon, also told the front desk when we arrived. Upon arrival, Zero recognition or acknowledgment . . Our room had not been vacuumed and had crushed chips and bits & bites on the floor. Our balcony door was jammed and we had to have someone come to slam it open for us. The resort and rooms are very outdated and not in a charming way. By the end of our stay we were laughing about the fact that we did not have a single meal where something was not forgotten about by a server/staff. We have done a lot of traveling and have never heard so many staff apologizing to everyone for forgetting orders, serving drinks in dirty glasses, etc. Luckily we are pretty forgiving people and didn’t allow the awful service to dampen our spirits too much, but,, If we were different people, I could see this really upsetting us. We paid $2000 for our 4 night stay plus all our meals and drinks in addition. The resort itself has no “extras”. You are 100% paying for the scenery. The scenery is stunning. Over all we are a happy couple who made the best of it, I wish I could highly recommend the Keltic Lodge because NS is my home province and I want to share its beauty with the rest of the world. Unfortunately this resort seems to be relying only on its location and I think it could be so much more!

ATROCIOUS - NEVER AGAIN!!!! Cabin floors filthy and disgusting. Fans is bathrooms didn’t work. Couldn’t close blinds. Cobwebs everywhere. Does anyone actually clean the rooms or do they just change towels and linens? Air conditioning unit sounds like a jet plane that was manufactured in 1950’s. $600 per night for both cabins. Ritz Carleton is cheaper. inexperienced staff but they are friendly and work hard. Fuse box on outside had a giant screw sticking out that doubles as a handle. Great view but incredibly overpriced. I’d have still been upset if I paid half the money I did. If you don’t fix these problems you’ll be closed inside a few years. Nice golf course though.

Lodge dated and not updated Stayed at Keltic Lodge in the main lodge and found it to be shabby and not overly clean. There were crumbs under a chair and dust and hair on the bathroom radiator. We asked for a view room and the window was so small it was not really worth it. The air conditioner was a massive machine which did not fit between the bed and the window making it difficult to get into bed. The wooden floors definitely need a good cleaning. The bed itself was very comfortable. The staff were lovely and the food in the dining room was superb. No elevator in the building so difficult for people with mobility issues. Would stay in the newer building next time.

Dated and Disappointing The Keltic needs a major facelift as the room we rented was very 70's. At 300 a night one expects much better, The interesting thing is we rented a "room" in a cottage and to our surprise NOT the entire cottage. Apparently the other side was up for grabs and a group of young fellas came up. It looked as is if they were assigned the other half. They left and probably complained and were assigned alternate arrangements. Cant see how Keltic can do this in time of COVID??. Other than that the room was clean but the place was not modern in the least. Food in the dining room was good and the service met the standard.

No control over party goers! Checked in on 3 July for a planned two night stay (almost $900). Supposed to be the highlight of a Cape Breton get away. Assigned to a room that dated back to the 70's. Awful but we thought "it's only two nights and everything else looked good". Just after 10 pm when the bar closed, a party started across the hall from our room with their door open. At least 20 people having a great time but with no regard for the peace and quiet of other guests. At 11 pm asked to at least close their door as others were trying to rest. At 12am tried to phone the front desk but the phone didn't work. Had to go to the front desk ourselves. The clerk did ask the partyers to quiet down and they did somewhat although doors slammed for another hour as people went to and fro. Finally when the party started to break up some individuals decided to knock on our door and flee. At 1:20am someone kicked our door. At this point we decided to leave because we felt unsafe. Checked out with a refund and drove back to Halifax at night in the pouring rain and wind. Awful experience. Will never return! No follow up from management to at least ensure we arrived home safely. Very disappointed.
