Beautiful hotel but the road noise is LOUD Absolutely beautiful historic hotel with very clean rooms, attentive staff, beautiful furnishings. We loved the hotel EXCEPT the noise!! We were facing the road and the windows are so thin that you hear all the road noise which is 24/7. We asked to move to other side and the desk warned us on that side you have a train that runs all night and blows its whistle. Given the immaculate hotel, just wish they would invest in more soundproof windows. It’s a shame but just not sure I would stay here again because the road noise was sooooooo loud and didn’t get a good night sleep the 3 nights we were there.

A Few Tips About the Carnegie Hotel This is the place where you want to be while visiting Johnson City. It has vibes from the 1920’s area where everything was grand. Walking in the foyer area is like no other. Our room was the biggest we had in our 2-week trip around the south. The bathroom was 3 times as large as most bathrooms. Even with the couch, the room seemed extra-large. The bed was indeed comfortable and the AC cold. There was even a refrigerator and a good size desk. This hotel holds conferences and there are a number of rooms that can be reserved. The largest room is the Grand Soldiers Ballroom that can hold 300 people. With that said, the Carnegie would be a superb place to have wedding parties. The elevators are large. There are two elevators that have no problem getting one to their floor quickly. There was an LL floor which puzzled us at first. The bottom floor, LL, is where one can get ice. There are no ice machines on the top floors. It is also on the LL floor where Carnegie has their Spa and Salon for people that enjoy that environment. There is a restaurant associated with the Carnegie called Wellington’s. We ate at Wellington’s one evening and the food is good. Free newspapers are located at the reception. Staff members are well dressed, extremely polite, respectful and helpful. Carnegie does advertise itself as “East Tennessee’s premier AAA Four Diamond experience.” Prices on the whole are reasonable. Although, we did find it ironic that on some nights our AAA card did not qualify for any discounts. We plan on going up to Johnson City in October and have already booked the Carnegie. Exceptional We live in Kingsport and had a mini-honeymoon weekend here after our wedding. We loved the charm of the hotel and the bedding was so comfy. Could you tell me where to order those pillows? We also had a couples massage at the spa while there and that was exceptional. Everyone was very nice from check in to check out. We will definitely stay here again, maybe to celebrate anniversary. Thanks again for such a nice stay!!
