Not so great Kenilworth; we stayed a number of years ago & again July 2024- No coffee in for mid-late afternoon check in. Such a small convenience to travelers either after a long day on the road or an early departure; was a long day on the road and somewhat expected there was a chance to have some in the lobby or hotel diner upon arrival, sadly the hotel diner had not been open for some time for whatever reasons, our luck. Keurig machine in the room included 2 k-cups, lite roast were terrible, went back out to get some food & some coffee for the afternoon and a couple more to microwave the next morning when we got up. The refrigerator was on "Low" setting and took hours to get to temp for our left over meals. The shower had beautiful scented shampoo/conditioner, thats kind of where it ended as far as the room. I’m unsure after reading the Kenils writeup, what their term “boutique hotel” means but the terms “luxuriously appointed” and “Premium bedding” are definitely a wee bit of a fib. At bedtime the very thin & litely yellow tinged sheets (which were the same a few years back when we stayed), specifically the “fitted” sheet, kept coming loose and was awakened at 1:15am; my hand/ inner arm felt “something” odd on the mattress, yes I freeked out. I woke my husband who put the light on because I had no idea what was going on. Found it was a multitude of thickly & severely pilled large pieces of cotton / mattress cover that had been disintegrating; it was put on upside down instead of right side; it was so gross. Certainly the pad was not quality, so thin it is a waste of time. Overall not a great night here. Checked out at 6:30 am but a desk clerk was not available to get a reciept nor let them know the issues with the bedding, so we left the key on the counter. Also no coffee service was available at that time & there were others mulling around the lobby as well; maybe it came out later but that doesnt do much good for early departures. We left that morning for another part of our trip & decided not to book another overnight on our way back- a week later...bummed, for the price and lack of general immenities that even economy hotels have, kind of expected a little better this time around.

Terrible shuttle experience Stayed at The Kenilworth with Park, Sleep, Fly. Everything was great staying there for the night but the return back to the hotel was a nightmare. They don't have a shuttle in the evening, so they send a Lyft driver. I was contacted initially by two Lyft drivers and one of them immediately canceled. Another driver called and I accidentally sent him to the wrong terminal. He said he would loop back around and get me but then he canceled the ride also. When I called The Kenilworth, they basically told me that if the other ride didn't come, I would have to figure it out on my own. Having done Park, Sleep, Fly previously but staying at a different hotel, this was a terrible experience in comparison. The other hotel had a shuttle running all hours and was very convenient.

Close to Newark Airport Our flight was cancelled and we had to stay in a hotel. We had great difficulty finding a place, but the Kenilworth had a room. We were relieved to find that it was pretty nice. I would say maybe slightly below a Holiday Inn Express. It was nice and close to the airport, so that was good. No restaurants within walking distance from what I could see. Room was clean. I especially enjoyed the lemon/cucumber water in the lobby after breakfast closed.

Book elsewhere- I wish I had. I do not usually write reviews but my experience at the Kenilworth was negative enough to take the time. We booked online and the reviews were high and breakfast was included. Well, this is false advertising in my opinion. There was coffee, overripe bananas and some prepackaged pastries and a couple of Nutrigrain bars. That is it. My husband and I grabbed a coffee but there was nothing for my 16 year old son to drink. I went to the front desk and stated that I felt advertising a free breakfast was not ethical. The employee was rude and gave a lot of attitude. She proceeded to look up the listing on Hotel.com and told me that since I was not charged for the snacks that I was wrong. The hotel is a maze. The hallway looks like a prison. Take the time to book elsewhere. I wish I had.

Handy stop and reasonably priced. This is a handy place to stay if you are driving on the Garden State Pkwy or going to Newark airport. The rooms are comfortable and parking is easy. There are several restaurants within walking distance plus a grocery store and a convenience store. I would pass on the seriously sad “grab and go” breakfast on offer and head to the bagel place down the street for breakfast. My only complaint about the room was the couch which may or may not have been clean, but looked ready for the curb! We put bath towels on it just in case.
