The atmosphere is great! The outdoor areas are fantastic! Two nice pools separated by a large tiki bar and a hot tub. The lighting of the tropical trees around the pools at night is also well done. The grounds are very well taken care of. We've stayed here twice and both times they upgraded us to the marina view rooms. This is an older hotel so yes, the bathroom is too small, and the AC units are a bit noisy....but the rooms are renovated, the floors were wood laminate instead of old rugs. The bed was very comfortable with very soft bright white sheets and great pillows. My daughter wanted to sleep on the large open up sectional couch. You can walk along to dock to restaurants and the African Queen is next to the hotel. We arrived late because we looked around at some of the hotels on the beach side but still ended up back here. We had drinks by the pool, swam, and ordered food from the tiki bar to our poolside table. It was all excellent!

Perfectly fine stay, convenient location, friendly staff The mixed reviews made us a little nervous booking this property, however our 3 night stay turned out perfectly fine. The hotel's location is extremely convenient-- we arrived by boat and docked at Marina Del Mar, our slip was less than a 2 minute walk around the docks from the hotel. There are also 2 restaurants accessible directly from the docks, as well as several more and other shops within <10 minutes walk. We had a first floor marina view room. the room was clean, kept cool by hte AC, made up nicely by housekeeping every day, and the bed was comfortable. Check-in was efficient and front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Granted, we were on the water most of the day so only in the room/on the property to sleep and shower (and therefore didn't check out any of the bars/pool/etc), but we were perfectly satisfied and would stay here again the next time we are back.

Great stop We arrived in Miami and took just over an hour to get here. We were pleasantly surprised, had a quad room on the second floor. There were no lifts but had two teenage boys to take 4 big cases upstairs! Room was clean and looked over the water. Ate in the restaurant outside for dinner and it was very nice especially after a long flight. Rooms were clean and spacious and beds and pillows were comfy. Used the pools in the morning all very nice and had pool towels. Breakfast was ok too. We only stayed one night as a base for the keys and then travelling onwards but definitely recommend _

Definitely not recommended Bad customer service. We found cockroaches in our room. They need to learn how to respect and value their guests. No es un hotel que recomendaríamos a nuestros amigos y familia. La atención y apreciación hacia los huéspedes deja mucho que desear.

Great pools1 Around $$240/night including taxes/fees A mix of pro's, con's, and "other"... - Tiki bar at the pools with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks plus food available through the day and a self-serve water dispenser which we found very convenient. - This is an older property (there is a picture in the lobby from the 1960's) but it has been updated in many ways. However, the age does show in a few ways... all of the rooms have the window-type A/C that runs constantly... the ceiling in the shower/toilet area of the bathroom is about 7' at the most -- felt kind of closed in... the bathroom vanity had two sinks but the vanity was the style that looks like a stand-alone piece of furniture -- in this instance, I would have preferred that they had kept the original wall-to-wall bathroom counter-top rather than losing 6" off of each side -- travelers always need more counter space rather than less. - Our room had one switch in the shower/toilet area that worked both the light and the fan -- you couldn't get one without the other, and the fan was pretty loud plus it didn't do much to help with condensation in the area when you took a shower. - Very helpful to have the retractable pull-string-thing in the shower to hang up swim suits. - I thought most Holiday Inns had their breakfast buffet included in the room price -- maybe that is Holiday Inn Express? This buffet was $15/person for hotel guests. Regular scrambled eggs and another version with diced peppers, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, French toast strips, make-your-own waffles, a variety of breads/bagels/muffins and jellies, cold cereal, yogurt, a variety of whole fresh fruit, fruit medley cups, OJ, and coffee. The food was fine -- nothing outstanding but no disappointments either. It would be nice to have at least one flavored creamer, but it wasn't a crisis. - Two very nice pools plus a hot-tub. One pool goes to 9' deep; the other pool only goes to 5' deep but is kept a little cooler than the larger one and has a waterfall. Both pools have a lift for those unable to descend steps into the pool. Complimentary large, good quality pool towels. All pools are supposed to close at 11 pm -- our room faced the pool and when there were really noisy kids still swimming after 11, we called the front desk who quickly dealt with the situation. -High quality bed linens. Something interesting/helpful that I haven't seen before... each queen bed had 4 sleeping pillows -- each pillow case was "monogrammed" either "firm" or "soft". Nice not to have to play the "test the pillow" game!
