Very disappointing Our stay at the Kilmarnock Inn proved to be very disappointing. We were greeted by the owner when we first arrived, and he was certainly friendly but did not give off great vibes. We were shown to our room and where to park but never asked if we need help with our luggage, something that I would have expected if the Kilmarnock was in fact an upscale Inn. The room really smelled; we were not sure what it was, but it was hard to get past the odor. The air conditioner was noisy, the bed somewhat uncomfortable, and no counterspace at all in the bathroom. The entire Inn just had a dingy and upkept feel to it. Our breakfast was good and was included in our room price. I would have been very disappointed if I paid the $50.00 + price that was on the guest check we were presented. The waitress was very friendly and checked in with us often but the freshly laundered tee shirt with an ammunition logo on it was a bit of a turnoff. I would have expected the staff to wear uniforms or at least polo shirts with the Inn’s name on it. The Inn was not serving dinner when we visited which was probably a blessing in surprise. I rarely write lukewarm reviews but feel it necessary to warn others that our experience did not come close to our expectations or other reviews.

An unforgettable retreat My wife and I wanted a few days on the Virginia coast and Kilmarnock Inn came highly rated. It was certainly true to it’s reputation and really exceeded our expectations. Although they were short-staffed because of the pandemic (and the government hand-outs) the manager and staff were wonderful. Shawn went out of his way to make sure we had all we needed and were aware of all the interesting places to visit in the area. The Inn was beautiful and a short drive to Yorktown and Williamsburg. The breakfasts were superb. We’ve stayed in several B&Bs over the years and Kilmarnock Inn was by far one of the best.

Great Get Away The Kilmarnock was a great get away. From reservation to arrival to meals to departure, the staff if amazing. Friendly, helpful, professional and thorough. The Inn is a well- located, well maintained property. Our room was in one of the outer cottages- spacious, up to date and very comfortable. They have excellent COVID protocols. Breakfast is excellent and since they are a regular restaurant as well, you get more choices than usual. This is a dog friendly property with your best friend accommodated in at least three of their rooms. Price and value very nice. We would certainly stay again and recommend.

Great Stay At The Kilmarnock Inn My husband and I needed a quick getaway and most of the area hotels/inns have a 2-night minimum stay so we were pleased to find a 1-night stay at the Kilmarnock Inn. Our room was in the main house, the only room available, and we were lucky to get it. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. We were expecting a balcony based on the description on the booking page of the inn's website, but didn't sweat it when that wasn't the case. It looks like the few rooms in the main house don’t have a balcony, but all of the suites on the property do. Our room faced the road but it wasn't loud and still very comfortable. Wandering around the property is really fun and you can tell the owners go out of their way to make the inn unique and very comfortable. The suites (cottages) around the property all had different styles of patios or porches and there were plenty of places for us to sit and relax in the gardens (if it hadn't been pouring rain). There is a common room with a pool table, some games, card tables and large screen TV. We definitely enjoyed the pool table before and after dinner and the space all to ourselves. We ate dinner at the inn and it was good, but nothing really stood out. However, breakfast the next morning was outstanding. The cost was included in the room rate which is honestly a great deal. The coffee was amazing and many of the baked goods are made in house by the owner and were delicious. We were told she makes the inn's ice cream but we didn't have a chance to try it. Breakfast was such a fun and delicious experience with outstanding service - it really made the trip. We are planning to go back to the inn soon to stay in one of the suites just outside the main house.

Hidden Gem of the NNK Stayed for our anniversary (we only live 30 mins away) and could not be more thrilled with the entire stay. Beautifully appointed suites not missing a single amenity. The courtyard is so very charming with such a welcoming feel. Our Lobster Mac and Cheese for dinner was top notch...the scallops were divine! Of course, the complimentary breakfast was great. The Bloody Mary Meal, crab Benedict and house made corned beef hash. Every single minute was perfect. Lindsay was professional and extremely helpful. We will definitely treat ourselves again!
