Beautiful property, clean rooms but rough and disappointing My family and I stayed at star island for a short mini trip April 12th-15th. Upon entering the resort the property looked very well taken care of and when we entered our room it was beautiful. The beds were also comfortable. This is where things get a little rough.. The shower handle in the main bedroom was installed backwards. (The cold was hot and the hot was cold) my wife ended up burning herself due to the mechanical error and it took the water a long time to get to a cooler temp. The electric outlet near the mirror near the kitchen/TV area didn’t work. 2 of the TVs didn’t work. One of which had no cable 1 night we ate at the restaurant- my sons ordered a cheeseburger and my wife and I ordered chicken tenders and wings. The food was not good. Very low grade food. My sons got food poisoning from the burgers. We did get a refund in the burgers but we were extremely disappointed because now our sons (with disabilities) was sick. We brought them to urgent care and were told by the doctor that they both indeed got food poisoning. The next day my wife over heard another person say that they got sick by the food as well. Advice: don’t eat there. There are soooooo many great places to eat in Kissimmee. This place isn’t one of them. I did speak to the front desk about all this during our stay but the girl (can’t remember her name) seemed to not care, offered no remorse and had a horrible attitude. Upon checking out I spoke with the asst manager and he made a list of all the problems we had during our stay. He too didn’t apologize, or offer any sort of compensation for all the problems we had. My wife and I were shocked and overall disappointed. We weren’t the type of people to complain but this trip was just a horrible experience not to mention our plane trip back home was worse when my son once again threw up due to the food he had. We travel to Orlando a few times a year for business and leisure and have always had great experiences at Wyndham hotels but this time they really fell short. A few days after our stay I received a review from Wyndham asking how our stay was. I was honest and included my phone number to discuss this stay further. I didn’t receive an email or phone call back. I guess they really don’t care to much about the survey. The General managers name is Blaire Venturino- very disappointed I didn’t get a response back. Why haven’t I received a phone call?

Star Island The place and location are great. The room we happened to be in had a few minor issues. The fan in one bathroom didn't work, the dishwasher in the other didn't work. A couple of other minor things. Always a nice place to stay.

Vacation Trip We over all enjoyed our stay. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The location is right of Hwy 192 in Kissimmee near shops, restaurants, Old Town, Highways. Certain times of the day it might be hard getting on the road or making a U-Turn because it is located off Hwy 192 but, it is secluded enough that it seems like it is nestled away. Many activities, large pool and scenic. It is an older resort, because the rooms need some cosmetic work, shelves in bathroom loose, double beds, carpet in the rooms, rooms could use better lighting and the windows face the corridors or other rooms. Also we could hear our neighbors at times. The resort is large and very shaded and many of the streetlights were out which was a little unnerving. There really should be more outdoor lighting. The laundry room in building 20 is small with only 2 washing machines 3 dryers and one of each didn't work well. There are 2 elevators which are needed. Our room which was the small lock off, had the basic necessities which is enough for a small group, 2-4. We would stay again.
