Worst Night Sleep. Overrated Motel Pros: Gary (co-owner) was very friendly, location is a plus, room decor is cute (although somewhat dated and worn but that doesn’t bother me) Con’s: Pillows are very uncomfortable (flat and cheap), they also need to invest in black out blinds or turn off exterior light by the door (they light up the whole room & kept me awake all night). These two factors made for the worst night’s sleep I have ever had a hotel/inn. I should also point out that the Inn is right by the road so it gets a lot of street noise and if you’re on the first floor you can hear the top floor inhabitants quite a bit. Other suggestions to Scripps: make sure sales is not misrepresenting “private balcony” option when this does not exist, And, lastly have option for hot water for tea drinkers in room (only keurig for coffee which is not good for environment either) If a potential guest does decide to stay here, I would highly recommend second floor, away from the road, bring your own pillow, an eye mask to block out the glaring bright light bulb just outside your window and some earplugs just in case!

Disappointing stay I visit La Jolla several times a year to see my relatives and decided this trip to splurge on a bit of a nicer of a place because I’m pregnant and I wanted a quiet little getaway weekend. I had requested an upstairs room but they had already been booked so I settled for a downstairs room. The front desk was very nice and accommodating of an early check-in, which I appreciated. My issue is that there was a huge family birthday going on with the group upstairs that moved onto the deck patio area at night and were Yelling until 11 PM. This is right outside my door and they were screaming from 8 to 11. I was super upset by this because I was looking forward to enjoying a quiet weekend away and instead it was obnoxiously loud and stressful. Around 9 o’clock I called the after hours number listed on the paper asking if anyone could address this but no one was on site so no one could address it. I was told to call the police. I didn’t want to make a scene and would’ve assumed they would have known it was me who called the police, so I didn’t. The paper specifically said because of Covid no more than six people were supposed to be on the deck but there were at least 14. At 11 pm, I went out to ask the group to be quieter and a drunk woman yelled at me and they continued to stomp around upstairs above me. It truly sounded like elephants were trembling the roof above me.

Another Beautiful Stay at Scripps Inn Location, Location, Location, you can't go wrong staying here. This was our second stay here and it didn't disappoint us. You can open the windows to hear the ocean at night. They also have parking onsite. The staff is so nice and accommodating. A fabulous retreat but a short distant from San Diego. You can easily walk to town, the beach and enjoyable sunsets.

Room with a View The experience started with Gary’s friendly “Howdy!” greeting. Right then and there I knew that staying at Scripps Inn was going to be a great experience. Our room was the spacious Ocean Vista Suite, the view is phenomenal. The beach is across the street: make sure to find the seals resting on the beach near the lifeguard station. If you’re traveling to San Diego, plan to stay at the Scripps Inn, you won’t be sorry. I know we will.

We Love This Inn Just got home from a 3 day stay at Scripps Inn and we loved it. Great value for a location right across from the beach. It is Covid - no housekeeping - which we would have declined anyway. The room came well stocked with plenty of fresh linens. Wish I could remember names - but the management girl was so friendly and accommodating. Only downside would be no AC - but it wasn’t an issue as the weather was awesome. Loved sitting on our porch, sipping coffee, with our Ocean View. Great trails along the beach right across the street. Would definitely Stay there again!
