We had a great time Before leaving for our trip I ended up here and read quite a few negative reviews that made me really nervous. Luckily this wasn’t the case for us. The staff was all really friendly and helpful. Our room (building 3, 3rd floor) was nice, seemed recently updated and overlooked the beautiful property. The fridge was great to have. I thought the landscaping was immaculate and everything was well kept. It was nice to visit the nearby Timber Ridge for the water park and then be able to leave, lol. My kids loved the pools, and the pool service staff was super attentive. Of the restaurants we only ate at the grand cafe but the food was great. My only quibble was when I stayed back at breakfast after my family left to enjoy my coffee and chia pudding in peace and an employee began fully cleaning the table, brushing crumbs onto my legs etc so I felt forced to leave. I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt that she didn’t realize this was rude.

They really don't care if you are happy. I agree with the previous reviewer. The lack of A/C or the inability of the A/C to cool the room (s) was a major problem. They advertise as a luxury resort, but I've stayed at luxury resorts before, and this is not one. Restaurant was closed because of a back up of some type. The front desk recommended ubereats as a way to have a quick dinner.

NOT SO GRAND GENEVA By the name, "grand Geneva", you're expecting the best experience. Well, that is not the case. Started out by requesting a second floor room at the time of booking. was told this would only be possible with a $47 per night add on, which I did, no hesitation. Only to walk into our room, facing the parking lot with tree branches covered in old Christmas lights filling the balcony. Not to mention, HUGE spider webs filling the chairs and corners of the entire space. We did not use the balcony. The room was decent but the bathroom could have been cleaner. The resort in itself is getting pretty outdated. Rotted wood that has been painted over, weeds filling the flower beds, bee hives on the light posts along the back of the resort, garbage cans to collect rain water on what were once decorative ledges, cups and crumbs all over the lobby carpet. The pool was nice at night although there are no towels available by the outdoor pool or drink service past 7:30pm. Indoor pool was like a concrete box, absolutely no wow factor. Grand Café buffet was okay but over priced at $50 a plate. The prime rib was extremely chewy. food was pretty basic. The desserts were great & Service by Leanne was fantastic. (amazing woman who works her butt off) over all, we would not stay at Grand Geneva again. The wow factor of a historic hotel is slowly being run into the ground.

Not even one and done! My husband and I were at the resort when the AC went out in the entire resort on July 2, 2024. We noticed immediately upon entering our room, after checking in on the 2nd, that it was hot and stuffy. Husband could not get the thermostat to work and called the front desk to ask if they would send a maintenance person to the room. They said someone would come shortly. We also noticed the tv didn't work. I toured the resort while husband waited for the maintenance person. An hour later still no person. He called again and was assured that someone would be there soon. Another 30 minutes lapsed. He finally went to talk to someone in person when he met a staff member on the way who was getting box fans out of a storage closet. They had a short conversation and husband learned about the AC being out in the whole resort. We had three other family groups arriving the following day. When we went to the front desk they admitted the problem and offered us a discount on the room and a box fan. The temp for 7/3 was to be in the high 80's. Our room temp was 76 degrees. Since we were on the first floor we couldn't leave the patio screened door open all night, nor could we imagine sleeping in a hot room with a fan. When the receptionist was asked by husband if management could guarantee that the AC would come back on, we were informed that the HVAC boss said it was doubtful for the day and couldn't even guarantee it would be on the following day. At least they were honest about that. Long story short (too late!) we were able to cancel our reservation and that of our other family members for a full refund. Since we all live within an hours drive, it was not a driving problem for us to go back home and for the others not to come the following day. However, our family get together was ruined, and several children were disappointed. We tried to book another resort for the two days but it was impossible to get four rooms in such short notice on a holiday week. Other things we discovered that day was the hot tub outside was not working and all the restaurants were closed. The rooms in the main building are dated. Lots of brown, coloring reminiscent of the 70's. The carpet in the hallway smelled. The walk from our room to the lobby is long. The lobby is beautiful as are the grounds. I hear the villas are beautiful. I can't speak for anything else there as we didn't stay long enough to check everything out. The price they charged for the room was near $500 a night because we were there on a holiday week. Even on a good day the room is not worthy of a 4 star resort. Read some reviews when we got home and found that the same thing happened with the AC in the resort in June 2023. Beware!

Disappointing and not safe Once upon a time this was the premier destination in Lake Geneva, times have changed. Our check in was smooth and friendly. I did notice other guests with the Geneva Club package received a special envelope with details that we did not. Many restaurants were closed and I wish someone told me that in advance. I tried to make reservations in advance and the "no availability" reply made me think I was too late to book, not they were all closed. At night we tried to shower with zero hot water and were told it would return in the morning. At the pool, we had superior service. My concern is they were doing outdoor grill from 3-7. They came and lit a large grill around 1:00 and left it out in the open walkway for hours with an open flame present. Although I did not have children with me this trip, there were many kids present. The Grand Geneva should change this practice to avoid anyone being hurt. The fire alarm went off around 9:45 pm and no staff member told us what it was or that we should evacuate. We did receive a note under our door in the middle of the night that it was a false alarm. The service staff are excellent, but overall this resort is not worth the money and the pool grill unsupervised is extremely unsafe.
