Don't miss it! Wonderful. Everything is fantastic here; the service (except at times when the bar is crowded), the food, the views, the rooms. Everything. People are so nice, room staff even when not using them are nice and polite, front desk, bartender, maitre D', and the place is full of nooks and crannies for sharing a drink, reading a book, or meeting interesting people.

Can't Be Beat: A Venerable Yet Up-to-Date Inn What a splendid old inn! Its 1920s Adirondack decor and flair really are special. The public rooms are woody and yet light-filled, with sitting spaces, antiques, old books, and beautiful views. Guest rooms are well furnished, understatedly elegant, and scrupulously clean. Breakfasts are delicious, and coffee, tea, and cookies are always available. In addition, the staff are as pleasant and helpful as they come, all of them. It's a welcoming, comfortable place. I should add that it has lots of amenities that I didn't have time to explore, but certainly will the next time I stay. Reading some of the negative reviews astounded me. If guests want brand-new, corporate-style sleek interiors, the Inn at Mirror Lake is not for them; but then, for me, and for the bulk of visitors, this well-established, immaculate lodge is exactly the thing.

Three Stars Being Generous ... AI is right! The AI overview nailed it. Positives: Clean with a great location. There is no way that it was worth the money, however, and I am honestly shocked by the AAA 4 Diamonds and their listing as one of the best resorts in NY State. The rooms are dated. The furniture is worn and the rooms are dark. This also means that there aren't enough outlets for two people's phones, laptops, watches, etc. We were on the first floor and the ceiling was so thin that we heard every footstep in the room above us. At one point, when my boyfriend was in the bathroom, I heard a sneeze and said "bless you" ... but it was the person upstairs! The wifi was free, but you get what. you pay for. We had to run our laptops off our phones. We couldn't get Netflix on the TV because the internet was too slow. We couldn't use the safe because the was a "battery low" flashing on the safe ... and we didn't want to have our belongings locked with the inability to remove them. And this place has so many rules! It was like staying with your grandparents. There was even a sticker on the bed when we arrived to "prove" that the sheets were clean. Nothing says luxury resort like a sticker on the sheets. We also got the package with free breakfast, but were told that it was first come-first served. On Saturday when we showed up at breakfast, we were told that it was a 20 minute wait. The dining room was more than 1/2 empty and all we wanted was a buffet. When we offered to hit the buffet and take the food back to the room, we were told that it was against the rules. When I loudly said that the place deserved a one star review, we were suddenly seated immediately by one of the owners. Though we declined room service, there was a surprise $10 per day housekeeping gratuity on our bill when we left! (The Management removed it.)

Loved the Inn My wife and I went for an extended weekend. Loved the Inn. It's rustic but well put together. Excellent room. Excellent service. It is central (as is all Lake Placid) to hikes and the surrounding Adirondacks. Would highly recommend staying here. I would avoid the restaurant though.
