Just don’t, find another hotel. Note: I did try to contact management of this hotel to discuss the issues with my room. Mr Hernandez never responded after multiple messages. Management is not available during the weekends at this hotel. The room was very dirty with greasy and crusty bed toppers and pillows. The carpet had multiple smears of food or some kind of white spots. The air conditioner did not work and the tv did not work. The front desk sent a maintenance guy but he could not get the a/c to work properly. Also, the room had a very musty, mildew smell. On the positive side, bathroom was reasonably clean. I was traveling with my dogs and do not expect to have the nicest room in the hotel but this was just unacceptable. The front desk promised I would get credit for one of the cleaning fees for the dogs but that credit has not happened. I would avoid this hotel and look elsewhere in Laredo.

CRASHED MY TRUCK - HOTEL DID NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY WARNING - DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL-Their valet caused damage to my truck and they will not take responsibility for the damage. Hotel is the worst, the rooms are dirty, old furniture and beds are like sleeping on a morgue slab. I would have had a better stay at the MOTEL 6.

I would absolutely recommend this place….to my mother-in-law. Just “NO”. I mean, I’m the type of person who tends to dole out benefits of the doubt far more generously than others might. This is my first time staying at La Posada, I booked 4 nights checking out New Year’s day (today, in a few hours). I typically would not have even considered staying here, based primarily on its proximity to the Rio Grande which is notoriously sewer-scented, along with its distance from literally ANYTHING else. Essentially all normal eateries (fast food and otherwise), grocery & convenience stores, shopping, gyms, maintained outdoor spaces suitable for recreation (playgrounds, dog-safe parks, etc) are not within walking distance. And that’s probably a good thing, seeing as this area isn’t safe for just anyone to be out walking anyway. Especially women, tourists, anyone with mobility issues & anyone without a firm grasp of the Spanish language. The reason I DID book a stay here is due to the fact that my aunt decided to host our family reunion in the San Augustin Ballroom, which is the larger of the 2 within the hotel grounds. I figured, “it’ll be so fun, getting to spend time with my cousins and I all staying in neighboring rooms. And so what if there’s nothing nearby? The hotel seems to have everything we need in-house!” I would laugh, but after the last few days I’m afraid it would come out as a maniacal lock-me-up hyena laugh, instead of the ha-ha you’d expect. I can’t possibly go into full detail, as I need to be checking out in about 6 hours….but let’s see: outside areas all stink to high heaven due to the wafting stench of the river mixed with vagrants relieving themselves (#1 AND #2) in the otherwise picturesque town square directly outside the hotel entrance. Even though the hotel is fairly large and literally COMPLETELY empty aside from my family members…(none of us has seen a single other guest over the last 4 days) the front desk workers decided to room us shoved into various corners of the property separated from each other by at least 1 floor, or else at least 10 rooms if on the same floor. So trying to orchestrate hang outs turned into weird games of hide and seek as we all kept getting lost trying to get to one another’s rooms. The hotel advertises having 2 pools, although only 1 being heated, along with a large hot tub and a swim-up bar at the heated pool. I guess my family booking a party in their largest ballroom as well as 10-12 suites for 4 nights each wasn’t enough to warrant them following thru with advertised amenities. Both pools closed during our entire stay, hot tub closed, no bartenders at the hotel bars. BOTH the hotel restaurants closed for dinner on NYE, doing active renovations during our stay resulting in loud noise at night and wet, freshly painted hallways and exterior doors during the day. A few of my cousins only lasted a night or two, and headed for greener pastures at one of the standard franchise hotels near the mall. Pretty much everyone else bailed after night 3. I’m the only one who stayed all 4 nights, and I’m only doing so because I really REALLY hoped that things would turn around at some point. But I’m sorry, there’s no excusing this kind of treatment. Especially from a resort that calls itself “The only 4 Diamond Hotel in Laredo”. I guess maybe that’s accurate, I was assuming the diamond scale operated the same as stars, with 5 being the highest. But perhaps with diamonds it goes up to 20….in which case 4 is still being generous. I hate to beat a dead horse, which is why I’m not doing that. This review is long because I want prospective travelers to know the full extent of what they can expect should they choose to stay here in 2024. Ant infestations in most of our rooms. Spiders. Little ones, about 1/2 an inch…not sure if poisonous or not, but when you find them in the bed and crawling on the clean, folded clothes you unpacked into the dresser drawers, it really ceases to matter. The rooms are only *clean* if you happen to open the door and take a quick scan of the layout. But as soon as you actually look at any given surface or corner, it gets worse and worse. I hope it’ll let me post some of the videos I’ve taken. Please, do yourself and your loved ones a solid. It’s bad enough that you dragged them to Laredo, don’t make them stay someplace filthy and dangerous. I’ve literally had cleaner accommodations with fewer bugs when camping. Oh! Also the water pressure is fantastic if ice-cold showers are your thing. Turn the knob anywhere warmer and the spray becomes a sad burping slosh-trickle. And if, out of desperation, you try to scrunch underneath that warm trickle to at least get the shampoo out of your hair or scrub the essentials, hurry it up! You’ve got about 2 minutes until the water pipes start going BANG! BANG! BANG! within the walls. Now EVERYONE in a 3 room radius knows you’re taking a sad shower. The blow dryer has 2 settings, LOUD & Jet Engine. Both provide the same outward flow of air. Found a bunch of long stray hairs, a dirty washcloth, and a balled-up pair of someone else’s socks underneath the bathroom vanity. The hotel claims to be pet-friendly. And I guess the staff have all been nice enough to my french bulldog when they see us coming down the hall. But for a non-refundable pet deposit PLUS $35/night fee, I would certainly HOPE SO. And there’s exactly 1 “green space” for dogs to do their business. Beware, it will be a minefield of turds, ranging in freshness. Apparently previous dog-owning visitors decided scooping wasn’t necessary. I mean, the place is cloaked in a poo cloud anyway so I can understand their rationale. You WILL find a bible in your nightstand drawer. Alas, no god or amount of praying can save you if you choose to disregard this warning. Oh look! Another spider.

My former favorite - starting to show its age La Posada has always been my favorite hotel when travelling to Laredo. I haven't stayed there for 4-5 years and I was disappointed this time. I always enjoyed the character and charm of this hotel, but it is starting to show its age. My room was very dark with only a small window, the furniture was worn and outdated. The grounds were OK but not as nice as I remember. The folks at the front desk were fine but not exactly welcoming. The plaza seems a little more sketchy. As much as I hate to say it, I will probably not stay there again. Nothing glaring, just not worth the extra drive, paying for parking, and the extra cost.

Third time’s a charm. The hotel was nice and clean. However the room had a stale smell, carpet should have probably been replaced. Upon arrival I checked into room assigned. When I arrived to the room I saw an open suitcase on the bed. It was already assigned to someone. I was assigned another room. I tried to open the door, but the door chain was keeping me from entering the room. I went back to the front desk and they apologized again and gave me yet another room. This room was vacant. To me the security is questionable.
