Pseudo luxury I rented a 2 bedroom Skyloft this past weekend for my 50th birthday because it has always been my dream to stay here. I’m not one to complain, but the experience was so horrible that this is my first review on Trip Advisor. Initially, my guests and I were impressed by the massive 3,000 square foot suite, pool table, and steam room; things that distinguished the hotel and make it worth spending more than a mortgage payment for a couple of days. The staff was nice, but very inconsistent. Our butler, Benito, and his trainee explained how all of the features of the suite worked. I tipped them for their service, and then never saw them again even after they indicated that they would get us ice and more bottled water. The suite was hot, and we thought that this was because it was 110 degrees outside, but Benito advised that it would cool down if we drew down the shades when we weren’t using the room. My wife and her friends visited the suite, and pointed out that it was a bit warm, so an engineer came out to find that the air conditioner wasn’t working properly. The staff was nice and brought us some fans, and as the issue persisted, they brought us more high end air coolers. The manager was nice, and knocked off a portion of the bill, which I appreciated because he acknowledged the issue. I’m thinking this suite was nice in its heyday, but the built in entertainment center had what looked like a 10 year old 4 inch thick flat screen TV and a head unit that still had a CD player that wouldn’t close. L It would have been great if the Bluetooth system actually worked, but I already suspected that it was antiquated because the receiver was docked to one of those 18 pin connector iPod docks from the early 2000’s. There were so many wireless remote controls to adjust the lights, music, drapes, etc. but the remotes wouldn’t even last an hour if you pulled it off the charging stations. On the day of checkout, I was looking forward to using the infinity tub, and that was the moment I was certain that I would never stay here again. After filling the tub completely, the jets initially started as expected but then crapped out after a second and then the water wouldn’t drain. Overall, the experience was a huge let down, because we’ve had better visits at the Four Seasons in the Mandalay Bay and at the former Mandarin Oriental in the City Center. MGM was a staple for my family, as we stayed at the Signature for my bachelor party, Park MGM for my birthdays, and I can still remember when the strip entrance was a huge golden lion. This place has gone so down hill on so many levels, even the floor woman at the craps table was rude to me for accidentally throwing dice off the table. She indicated that I threw the dice off the table with every roll, which was an exaggeration, so I gladly took down my bets and cashed out and went to another casino. In conclusion, MGM Las Vegas isn’t what it used to be and I’m genuinely sad for the organization because I grew up coming here with my parents, as a California native. There are so many stipulations for things that I believed were benefits for staying here, such as complimentary access to Wet Republic and access to a house car (which is only for the primary). I’ll try the Palms Suites, and Caesars where hopefully the attention to detail will be much greater. Farewell MGM!
